Recently, with my permission, the wonderful has begun posting pictures she drew inspired by some of my fan-fics. They're really great, and I found myself compelled to color them.This time, it's "Celestia versus Scorpan" ([link] ), inspired by my still-in-progress Pony epic 'fic, "Escape From Castle Midnight": [link]

There's a great sense of ferocity brought about by the lineart, positioning and their expressions, and the color job--especially the shading on the wings (is it "shading"? I never remember my art terms)--only enhances the proceedings!
Reminds me that Celestia isn't afraid to get down and dirty when she needs to.

I have to give credit again to here, who really did a great job of keeping true to the original art style (of both G1 and G4) while adding an entirely unique layer of intensity to the whole thing.
"Shading" does seem an appropriate choice for the wing colors; the inside of the wing is meant to be darker than the outside, after all. ^_^

I was actually intimidated by Celestia's mane 'n' tail at first, but having now handled them both twice, I find them to be surprisingly fun to do; just watching them come together with each color is a surprisingly cool experience.

Very cool! I like the extra details you added to Scorpan and the smooth, solid coloring.
My main concern for when I get around to coloring it is that this is more of the look I'm envisioning, but with colored pencils, I don't think I'll be able to get this effect, so I'm certainly happy to see it colored like this!

Thank you very much; I couldn't resist giving Scorpan's mane some extra detail, but only because your original line work was so strong already. ^_^
And please, don't let my version intimidate you; you're a lot better with things like shading and color nuance than I am, IMO, and I think your version will have its own strengths to appreciate.

Thanks, but, well, I think I want less shading for something like this! I'd paint it or use markers myself, but I'm out of both.
