Description
Inspired a bit by 's fanfic, "Captivated", which postulated a deeper backstory for Sally's mother Alicia.Sally bears a pretty big burden as Princess and leader of the Freedom Fighters, but I think perhaps the biggest thing of all weighing on her shoulders is the memory of her parents. I've always imagined that, happy though she may have been with them, the Royal Parents might not have been quite as attentive and warm with her as we might think...

I love how we can't tell if the king is smiling or frowning behind that mustache
Much emotion here...

Poor thing. You create a great atmosphere here, a little cold, a little intimidating.

Thaks for that. And yes, I feel pretty bad for Sal in this pic too...3:3

If they do make a Satam film they really should look deeper into the characters like this

I dunno about that...movies only have so much running time, after all, and it can be very difficult to balance moving the story along with deep, lengthy backstory. Still, thanks for the compliment. ^_^

A masterful and director with passion can link history and character. I think a terrific example of this is Lord of the Rings.
By all means: its a picture with fine resonance

Well, I'd argue the LotR films had an unfair advantage over any potential SatAM movie in that
a.) They were able to spread their story out over three seperate movies
b.) The deeper backstory they used was already in place in the source material, whereas much of SatAM's deeper history is a lot more muddled
and
c.) Each movie was about three hours long, and if "Speed Racer" is any indication, audiences don't have much taste for such lengths in films aged at the younger crowd.
Still, I do appreciate your accolades.

I see no problem with Satam being all three of these
There just needs to be a combined effort to put a lock on the Sonic history I think, like Bungie's 'Halo Bible'.
I'm willing to put up with long movies if they're entertaining and hold my interest. I think that was the most fault of Speed Racer; the lack of suspense or characterization instead of the length.
By all means

Max looks vaguely irritated at having to sit for a picture. o.o I like Alicia's softer look, and the worry in Sally... seems like she's not sure she's living up.

I wanted Max's look to be uninterested more than irritated...
But yes, I actually think one of Sal's biggest fears is letting down the memory of her parents. Even in Archie, when she got both of them down...I dunno, they just strike me as a very unhealthy family. X_X

To be fair, the SatAM version has the unfair advantage of being voiced by Tim Curry. XD

I was wondering if this may have been inspired by "Captivated" (I'm just finishing off reading the second chapter of that now). Nicely done, I like the pose, particularly the way her head seems to be tilted back. Seems thoughtful. I also notice she has a clenched fist.
Emotional.

Glad you think so. The clenched-unclenched hands were quite intentional; notice which hand is which, and how that compares to the portrait...

Perhaps. But then, I think leading the FFs, a task she took at least partly because of her Royalty and perceived responsibilities therein, is incontrevertibly tied to her memory of her parents. But that's just me. ^///^

Somehow, I can't believe it hasn't been brought up that King Maximillian trusted a traitor. You can call Robotnik a defector if you will, but once his use was at an end, he should have been quietly disposed of.
Something heirs should keep in mind, sometimes their parents weren't all that great to begin with.

Only Robotnik's use hadn't ended prior to his coup. At the moment, I can't recall how it went in Archie, but I remember in SatAM that he was the man responsible for the new Robot guards and more advanced tech in Mobotropolis. By all appearances, he was still quite helpful to the progress of the city.

Good point, but there yet remains the fact that levels of trust were extended to a person, who betrayed their own species, that should never be given. Ever.
