When this project first started gestating in my brain, I paired Rarity up with Rotor more or less as the spares; I couldn't think of a particularly compelling connection for them at the time, and everyone/everypony else had already been paired up in my mind (and because I view Antoine more in terms of his fearfulness than his regality, the thought of putting HIM and Rarity together never occurred to me). Then along came the FiM episode "Suited For Success", and suddenly the pairing took on a whole new meaning for me. Rotor's proclivity towards mechanical work suddenly seemed very much a kindred sort of passion to Rarity's own love of dressmaking, her meticulous attention to detail. Thus did I approach this scenario with a renewed vigor when the time finally rolled around to make it happen.
On a side-note, keeping track of the precise "looping" of Rarity's hair makes her easily the most difficult Pony of the mane six to draw. lD;

Ah ha! I noticed that Elisto Dragonwings stated that Ann-Chovi's short is based on an image of Rotor from your DA gallery. So I look around and find this. Man, this short is going to be great! I can't wait to see what Rotor can jig up with Rarity. I've already complimented Ann on her exceptional artwork.

Neither; she's just sitting. X3 I do see what you mean, though; getting Pony anatomy right is still a struggle for me, especially in non-standard poses like sitting, so it's good to know what I need to work on.

Very nice deduction on the "attention to detail" angle! Indeed, the two are creative minds completely dedicated to getting their creations right the first--or worst case, the second--time. I'm a believer now. (Also, if anything, this gives me more material to use in Twilight/Rarity setups. 
...I get the feeling I should recognize what they're constructing, but alas, it escapes me. (It looks vaguely like a miniature Doomsday Pod, but that would be madness.)

Thank you very much; truth be told, I was really intrigued to know what you'd make of this particular deduction, because unlike the other pairings thus far I don't know that it's immediately obvious or necessarily true to the characters, canonically speaking. That is to say, it requires a bit of reading between the lines on my part, particularly for Rotor, who was tragically underused by SatAM most of the time. It does my heart good to know I've sold you on it, and reinforces my own confidence that this was the right choice. ^_^
And the resemblance to a Doomsday pod is, I promise, coincidental; the design was purely made up by me for the picture, though I did envision it as being a sort of scanning module, and now that you've put the idea in my head, I'm thinking it is in fact based on the tech used to mobilize the Doomsday pods. X3 <3

I've been away on a much-needed vacation, both physically and muse-wise. Just got back! It's left me refreshed, even though I have no clue how long it'll be until I get back to ponies.
And you did quite well under the circumstances! For some reason, much like the Shy/Antoine picture, I just can't bring myself to say it appears "forced," so that's a win in my book.
(They could be, I don't know, perhaps Restoration Pods? They go around the planet and make it look simply maaaaaaahvelous. ^_^)

Glad you like, and glad t'know you too struggled a bit with Rarity's hair(ity X3). And indeed, I think Rarity with glasses more or less clinched the deal with this one for me; the fact that she has glasses specifically for her work speaks to her passion for the job, which in turn feeds into her connection with Rotor. ^_^

I don't think Chiro 'n' Fluttershy would really go together, but I can't think of who they'd really fit with in any case.

The rest are perfect.
You know? This could be a good crossover, it could take place during season 3.
