I can't be the only one who thought this, right?
So yes, in case you couldn't tell, I'm quite smitten with the new animated series "Steven Universe", and have already been inspired to do fan-art of it. Β And just as my last major Cartoon Love was inaugurated into my gallery with a crossover with my PREVIOUS great love, so too shall "Steven Universe" join the ranks. Β So it is that two of the show's main characters, Garnet and Amethyst, discover they're not the only ones whose favored strategy is tossing a friend at a powerful Crystal Relic of immeasurable power.

Okay... confession time. In spite of hearing oodles of good things about it, and immediately jumping on board with wanting to see "Steven Universe"... I still have not seen it! But I shall now have to watch it on the first opportunity.
Nonetheless I like the drawing. Shining Armor in particular looks hilarious here, and the mirrored layout of the characters drives the parallels and the joke home. Nice work.

It's a surprisingly hard show to catch, honestly; CN only ever repeats it...sporadically (it's usually 8:00 P.M. EST most nights, but I'd be hard-pressed to say which specific nights it is since it seems to keep changing l3 ), and I've heard from friends that viewing it online via their website can be a bit of a hassle. Β Still, I sincerely hope you do get your chance, and that you enjoy it when you do.

Thanks! Β I had originally sketched Shining's pose to be closer to the original Wife-Tossing scene (thirtyminuteponies.tumblr.com/β¦ , but for the purposes of the pic's composition, it didn't really work; Cadance was getting squeezed into the middle and Garnet was being pushed out by Cadance. XD

I love Amethyst here in particular - she looks all ready to turn this into a competition! The other three are amazing too - Garnet's very slight break from deadpan, Shiny trying to decide just what's going on, and Cadence's vague beginning of worry - but it's definitely Amethyst that sells it. <3
