Friendship Sentai Ponyranger: The Movie: Princess of Light, Princess of Darkness
After many battles and struggle, the Ponyrangers were able to track down Nightmare Moon, and faced her for one final battle in the ancient castle she and Celestia had once called home. Together, they were able to use the power of the Elements of Harmony to defeat Nightmare Moon, and with Celestia's help, they restored Princess Luna to her true form. Afterwards, Celestia told them that though the fight with Nightmare Moon was over, the world of Equestria still needed protection. And so, after several peaceful months....
Twilight Sparkle and her friends receive shocking news: Twilight's older brother, Shining Armor, is to be wed to Cadance, the Princess of the remote Cadenza Island. Twilight, and all her friends, have been invited to attend. Having not seen Shining since she was a child, Twilight is both eager to reconnect and afraid that there may not be room in Shining's life left for her to do so.
But there is a grave secret on Cadenza Island...a reason that there is a carefully-maintained Force Field around it that has been maintained for many thousands of years, and which Shining Armor now maintains. For beneath the ground of the island, there sleeps an army of creatures called Changelings, shape-shifters who feed on the life-force of living creatures, and which once tried to take over the entire world until they were imprisoned in eternal hibernation.
Twilight soon finds reason to fear that Cadance is maniupulating Shining Armor, and doing so in the name of awakening the Changelings and unleashing them upon the world. Now, she and the rest of the Ponyrangers must work together to stop this plan before it's too late. But can they save the island, the world, and Shining Armor?

Wow, Goji, this looks really dynamic and it's so fun to just keep looking at it until more things pop out at you. The coordinated outfits and the MEGAPONYZORD are really cool. So many Changelings. @_@ I'd have never had the patience.

Oh yes, the Changeling horde was SUPER time-consuming; I barely had the patience for it, and that's WITH the many shortcuts I took to get it finished. XD; Still, I'm super-happy to hear the end-result was worth it. <3 Thank you so much!

Anyway my favorite thing about this is that Changeling Army dividing Authentic Cadance and Deceptive Cadance and flowing down behind our heroines. I also love the contrast between the two Shining Armors - a perfect at-a-glance portrayal - and the diversity in pose and expression for our girls. Lots of tension and drama with Pinkie and her clone providing just the right touch of humor - basically, perfect. <3

Fun fact: the Pinkie-and-her-changeling-double thing was unplanned for; I had originally placed Pinkie right behind Twilight, with AJ and Rarity on either side of her and Rainbow and Fluttershy where Pinkie and Changeling!Pinkie are now, but by the time I finished the pencil sketch I realized that composition pushed Rarity and AJ too far up the picture, crowding Companion Champion at the top. Rearranging the composition required figuring out a way to rebalance it, though, since we only had six Ponyrangers to work with but would need an even number of them on either side of Twilight. And then I hit upon the solution to that problem.... ;3

Wow, very very cool! The composition is very nice; there's a lot going on, but it doesn't looks crowded at all and it all works together. My favorite part is the changelings in the middle; I really like their designs! The posing of the main group looks nice too; very dynamic, and Rainbow Dash came out especially nice. Pinkie Pie and her double are also a really nice addition - a bit silly when everyone else is looking so serious, but that's so appropriately perfect because it's Pinkie Pie. I do see a small mistake on Fluttershy, but her nervous attempt at defending herself is very cute. Also, the green glow of Chrysalis's eye came out fantastice.
As for the summary, I wasn't expecting it (although I probably should have), but that sounds like an awesome adaptation of the show!
Sorry the scan quality was giving you trouble though. How big is this? I'm wondering if I might be able to rescan it in pieces for you at some point.

And yes...those mistakes that you catch after it's too late to fix them; it seems like no matter how careful you are, some always get through. So frustrating. But if it helps, Fluttershy's hand is the only one I notice (at least that I would classify as a "mistake," although I admit I'm not sure exactly what definition I'm using...).

Oh absolutely! There are quite a few new elements and characters being brought to the "Ponyranger" story by this, after all, I'd hate to leave them undetailed. ^_^
And the only other errors are pretty difficult to spot; a couple uncolored spots in the background that should've been green, and Applejack's torso line running through her shoulder. It is frustrating, but I do my best to treat it as a learning experience. <3

I'm running through a few ideas. First, when the changeling mooks appear, I might have them disguised as parasprites, to throw the girls off. Also, I remember the CMC being flower girls at real Cadence's wedding in canon, so should the CMC be accompanying the main team there, or would they arrive later?

My idea is indeed for the CMC to accompany the girls to the island; indeed, as I planned it, they're the ones who accidentally disocver the Changelings' lair and warn the girls of the danger.

I just had a bit of inspiration for the main series. First, I might have an idea of personal weapons for the main characters. Second, and surprisingly related to the first, I have an idea for the first appearance of Philomena.

Some are appropriate, AJ has an axe, Pinkie has a hand cannon. Twilight is given a sword, but it's not part of the team blaster, which instead goes to her staff. During the events of one episode, after the team gains their personal weapons, Twilight is called to Canterlot to receive sword training from Celestia herself. At the end, the other girls are able to beat the monster of the week without her, but trouble comes when the monster grows. Twilight returns on Owlowiscious and they combine. They fight as much as they can, and Celestia sends Philomena for the first time. The girls are confused, at first, and the next episode will the "A Bird in the Hoof" episode, which gives us the formal introduction to Philomena.

I partially chose the sword for Twilight due to the fact that, if this were a more normal Super Sentai, she'd probably be the one wearing red. As such, she would be the one carrying a sword. And there is a ton of precedence for this.

b.) As for the rest, I was thinking something like Kyoko's segmented Spear from "Madoka Magica" for Rarity (simulating as it does a piece of thread she can manipulate: www.japanator.com/elephant//ul… ), a bow for Fluttershy (with "flowers" as its arrows), and a twin pair of Daggers for Rainbow.

Not as such, no; in my head, they wear the elements as necklaces (which you see at the top of their character portraits), and simply tap them to transform. If you think you have a good design for a Henshin Device/Morpher for them, though, I'd love t'see it.

Not a bad comparison, but for the purposes of this story, Rainbow Power is actually more akin to the Super Team power-ups from, say, "Magiranger" or "Goseiger".
