Description
"I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot."-Jack London
An autumn scene in Strafford NH.
Tone-mapped HDR
Part of a rather scathing critique of this shot in the Photographers community at LiveJournal remarked that this shot "looks something like a bomb in a paint factory." I tend to agree.

This was one of those scenes that when I first came upon it, I wished I had my camera with me. The next day I returned with my camera and captured the colors as well as I knew how.

Thanks, glad you think so. I drove by this place about a week before I shot it, and when I returned it was twice as gorgeous.

This is the first hdr-photo which seems perfectly NOT!!! artificial in some parts of the picture. This way I like this technique. Advantages used but it seems still naturally. Very very good.
Which program to you use? How many shots?

I know what you mean, people have a tendency to overdo the tone-mapping. In some cases, it can produce a very interesting look, but not in most cases.
For this shot, I used Photomatix Pro for the HDR generation and tone-mapping and Photoshop CS for the rest of the postwork, that is color balancing and saturation control. This was made from 3 exposures, at ± 2 stops. Thanks so much for the questions.
