Description A rather funny capture from "Sky's The Limit" (gee I have a bunch from that episode-there's some episodes I probably have upwards of 20 captures). Assh-I mean Troy Malone is visiting the Forest and he's stopped by at the Raccoondominium. Ralph and Melissa discuss how the two of them met (which is contradicted by other episodes showing them growing up alongside each other-unless the "coffee incident" happened when they were both little-but what would Ralph be doing with coffee at that age? Ah, never mind!), as Troy also tells how he knows Melissa. Ralph is still refusing to go to the costume dance with Melissa, so Troy offers to go in Ralph's place. Melissa enthusiastically agrees, as, well, this is Ralph's reaction. DEFINITELY not amused. For such a rather serious character, Ralph does have some pretty funny facial expressions...

The sink overflowing moments later was also kinda amusing. You put it in your collage dedicated to Ralph.

You need a cap of them eating cereal from the first Bentley episode. I don't know why that scene is so obsession forming...

I think the coffee story happened when they were young adults, myself. Not when they're children as depicted on the series. I think they went to school together, parted ways for a while when they graduated, then met up as adults and discovered their feelings for each other.

Ralph with the voice of the Brain from Animaniacs: I am not amused...
He does have funny facial expressions!

...You have reminded me of the fact I haven't seen Pinky and the Brain or the Animaniacs in well over a decade...

I can't blame Ralph for not being amused, having to watch your significant other catching up on old times with one of their old flames would be pretty awkward! Needless to say...I don't think Ralph and Melissa discuss the subject of Melissa's exes very often

I have a DVD of Animanacs but I don't watch it very much.....
If I had a boyfriend (which I don't) and he had an ex and she came visiting I'd kick her out faster than you can say all the episodes of the Raccoons!

I saw shows like Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures WAY back in the day on Cartoon Network when I was very young (6 or 7, maybe...?), but haven't seen them ever since...I REALLY need to watch those shows again one of these days! If I can ever get the time, maybe...

I don't blame you, I don't think too many people would be very happy to meet one of their special one's exes. But Ralph is clearly not THAT bold...poor Ralph. He has some really serious self-confidence issues...I mean, in this episode he thinks Melissa is too good for someone seemingly boring for him and would probably match up better with someone like Troy! I really wonder if Ralph had a really rough childhood or something that helped cause those self-confidence issues with himself...if so, that makes me feel pretty bad for him.

It's funny I used to LOVE Animaniacs when I was little but now ( I still like it though) I'm more into lesser know cartoons like the Raccoons. Plus I think Animaniacs has gotten very overrated these days.......

I totally agree with you on Ralph having self esteem issues....poor guy Maybe something happened in his past that caused his self- confidence to crumble a little.

But we both know that Melissa would never leave him for Troy despite some artwork of her dumping/cheating on Ralph which is really OOC and I know it's mostly for laughs but still though.

You can watch A! on The Hub, I think. I still like it, especially the Fox episodes. It started getting a little "off" at the end of Fox-to-WB episodes. On the other hand, I find myself being attracted to some of the "underrated" segments...like Rita and Runt (when you consider who I'm a fan of, and who was Rita, it all makes sense now)

Like I said, Ralph may have had a rather tough childhood...Seeing as he is a little on the nerdy side, I COULD see young Ralph being a target for bullies in his school days...I can also imagine Ralph not having very much luck with girls in his school years, which would make being with Melissa all the more special for him

Of course you know those are only intended for a laugh and not meant to be seriously (OOCness can be fun sometimes ), I doubt there is anyone who SERIOUSLY thinks Melissa would do best to ditch Ralph and hook up with Troy or anyone else (at least, I'd HOPE no one would think that). If Melissa were to actually go off and do that, I think that would make me and a lot of people REALLY hate her character, since that basically means she flat-out lied to Ralph when she told him she loves him rather than Troy, and that would also mean she chose to voluntarily break the vows she no doubt made when she and Ralph were wed to honor him and be faithful to him. What would Ralph even do in that scenario? Seeing how much Ralph loves her, I can't even begin to imagine what he would do...

...and why would Melissa even WANT to get back with Troy, anyways? He's definitely not a very nice guy. It's pretty obvious he cares only about being famous and getting the girls and the glory rather than about anyone else's feelings...if Troy REALLY still cared about Melissa, he would have stopped Ralph from trying to compete against him and told him to think about how Melissa would feel, rather than willingly take on the horribly inexperienced Ralph anyways. Plus, the fact that he wonders why everyone isn't celebrating his victory when Ralph just crashed and could have possibly been badly hurt or killed and the fact that he fully expects Melissa to give him a big kiss for winning afterwards...and the fact that he belittles Ralph throughout the episode...Yeah, he's not a nice guy. Wonder what on Earth Melissa ever saw in him in the first place...?

I agree. Ralph was kind of nerdy and was picked on by bullies and a lot girls ignored him too. Which makes Melissa all the more special to him

If Melissa really DID cheat on Ralph, I wouldn't like her at all either and Ralph would probably die of a broken heart or (Heaven forbid) kill himself!

I'll say Troy's not a nice guy at all!

But I do have a theory on his and Melissa's relationship. He was probably was a nice guy at first but then all the fame and glory made him a jerk and Melissa naturally couldn't tolerate that and left him.

Some people who are jerks actually start out as nice people but then for whatever reason they become mean and arrogant.

If Melissa chose to cheat on Ralph...I think there WOULD be a good chance he might try to kill himself...or kill her and then himself. Somehow I think the whole situation would make poor Ralph go bonkers

What I think would be kind of funny is: What if a woman came along who was obviously interested in him romantically? How would Ralph react, especially considering he is a married raccoon? I've seen a couple of Ralph "fangirls" out there on the Internet...how would Ralph react knowing he has "fangirls?"

I'm actually beginning to write a story featuring Melissa's younger years (I wrote one for Ralph...well, one featuring how he and Melissa met and became a couple, for the most part-Ralph and Melissa grew up far apart in my stories and never met until they were in college) told from her point of view (I'm a guy writing from the point of view of a female character...that's going to be a little bit challenging in spots!), and you can safely bet that you'll get to see Melissa's relationship with Troy in that story. My theory on Troy...I imagine he was good at PRESENTING himself as a nice, honorable guy when he really wasn't, and she leaves him when she starts to see his true colors (some people are good at faking being nice...). Plus the fact he and Melissa met when he saved her from an avalanche on a skiing trip probably helped influence her decision to date him...

AisFoxHusky In reply to GoodCaptainClack [2013-01-08 01:35:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh if that happened....... I can't bear the thought

On fangirls He would probably be VERY uncomfortable to say the least about a fangirl wanting to date or marry him

On Mellisa's relationship with Troy I figured he would be in your upcoming story and yes that's also a very good theory about him being a wolf in sheep's clothing. Some people are like that too

Thank heavens I've never met someone like that and I hope I never will.

Same here. Ralph rarely makes odd expressions, but when he does they're some of the funniest on the whole show. Yeah, this probably is the most depressed Ralph's ever been in the entire show. Well, at least they make up in the end. That's always nice.

It's a shame indeed. That's really the only complaint I could come up with for his character, he tends to be WAY too serious most of the time. He could stand to lighten up a little.

Like he did in 'The Wright Staff' by acting like a typical husband with the launch of Cyril's sports channel for a change or when he had a walkman in 'Power Trip' and standing on one side of the canoe he was in.

GoodCaptainClack In reply to David31 [2012-01-03 20:27:10 +0000 UTC]

Heheh, oh yeah. He could have lightened up a bit more often than that, though.

I can't really blame Ralph for being not amused-I think everyone of us has known a Troy Malone at some point or other, someone we wanted to slap the smile right off their face. Well, his jealousy does make his more of an identifiable and realistic character. If his character were flawless, I (and probably everyone else) would most likely hate his guts.

True, any man would stand up for his woman if he loves her enough. Pity it wasen't shown often enough, but well that's where fanfics come in, man I really do go on and on about the same thing don't I?

GoodCaptainClack In reply to David31 [2012-01-03 21:25:03 +0000 UTC]

Nah, don't worry, if anything I have exactly the same problem! Ralph may have not used his head in this episode, but you do get the idea he would go pretty far for Melissa. He probably would sacrifice his own life for her if such a situation did arise. Yep, that's what fanfics are for! I wonder what it was about my "Story of Ralph" fanfic that made it quite popular? Was it something to do with the fact I chose to write from his perspective?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David31 In reply to GoodCaptainClack [2012-01-03 21:50:42 +0000 UTC]

Might very well have been. I guess it also makes you think that perhaps Ralph does think about being with Melissa and I mean 'very close' to Melissa a lot? Sorry couldn't resist.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GoodCaptainClack In reply to David31 [2012-01-03 22:11:05 +0000 UTC]

He probably does. I mean, he IS a male after all, and she happens to his wife. It would be completely normal for him to think about that often-there would be absolutely nothing wrong with that. Hell, seeing how much they love each other, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were 'very close' to each other on a fairly regular basis. Suddenly I think I know why Bert tends to get up late every day...poor Bert! Heheh
