Description
Another screencap from "The Chips Are Down". Ralph, Melissa, and Cedric are gathered at the Raccoondominium, wondering where Bert has gone off to. Ralph figures that Bert will be gone for hours riding on the Blue Phantom bicycle he just won through the contest. But all of a sudden, a very serious Bert shows up at the Raccoondominum. He laments how he auctioned off all his belongings and screwed up his life trying to win the bike, and profusely apologizes to his friends for his actions and behavior towards them. He then mentions he has a little surprise for Ralph and Melissa...much to their surprise, Bert bought them a shiny new tandem bike. Here we see Bert explaining to them that he sold the Blue Phantom and the money he earned from the sale covered the cost of the new bike AND the damages done to Willow's Store. Now wasn't that thoughtful? Ralph then reveals he has a surprise for Bert as well...they saved all of his priceless possessions he sold off for him. It's a happy ending for everyone (well, what less would you expect from this show?)...well, everyone except Cyril Sneer, of course...The Raccoons (c) Skywriter Media & Entertainment Group

This raccoon trio can't be beat! Here's a coincidence: My fanfic mentions the Bee Gees, and both trios have the same first letter of their first names!
Bert Raccoon = Barry Gibb
Ralph Raccoon = Robin Gibb
Melissa Raccoon = Maurice Gibb

Cool screengrab. I really enjoyed the episode. Bert really did learn a valuable lesson, and Cyril... Well... Let's just say the final scene of the episode really made me laugh.

I just knew you were going to take a more positive screengrab to make up for the last one from this episode.

Well, this is one of the show's more happy endings, isn't it? It's nice to see Bert make up for what he did...though I do have to wonder, how much does a Blue Phantom bicycle actually cost? It's rather obvious the tandem bike is pretty obviously expensive, so the Blue Phantom has to cost even more...a $500+ bike, perhaps? Yikes!
I also must say, I'm feeling disappointed as this screencap has proven what I've suspected all along...I'm more popular for my screencaps then I am for my own stories! I just recently posted Chapter 5 of Melissa's story "Growing Up!" to absolutely no reception at all (and I was REALLY proud of that chapter, too), then I post this...and sure enough, people are rushing to favorite it. That REALLY bums me out. I get the feeling most people who are watching me are only doing it for the screencaps...

I must admit I have a lot on my mind hence why I didn't see the chapter yet, but give people time or try and promote your stories more on Raccoons fan groups to see if more people would want to see them, mind you they have to be real RalphXMelissa fans to enjoy them maybe?

This is Cyril Sneer we are talking about, yep he's bike would be expensive.

It's funny, while those of us who consider ourselves fans of the shows tend to hold this particular episode in high regard, I have seen an article out there (I think it was a Cracked.com article) in which the author SLAMMED the show, PARTICULARLY this episode because he (she?) found the whole idea of Bert's addiction to potato chips representing drug addiction phenomenally stupid. I haven't seen TOO many negative reviews of the Raccoons, but those who HAVE given negative reviews of it slam it HARD.
How would I go about promoting my stories? There are no other Raccoons fangroups outside of the one here. What do I have to do, make my own? I just have to say, it just really bugs me to see my screencaps get more attention than my own stories because while these screencaps are certainly nice, there's no creative effort on my part in making them.
I must admit I have been feeling rather stressed out and depressed lately, and to be honest, I am thinking some time away from the Raccoons fandom (like, a couple weeks or so) might do me some good, help me calm my nerves, and help me get back on the right track, I don't know...

Obviously the 'slammer' in question most very likely hasn't seen the show or know about much of it's creation, you'll be surprised the amount of times I had to tell people that Kevin Gillis created the show, wrote the songs, owns the copyrights etc. over and over again. But yeah some people will dislike this show and that's fair enough, it's their opinion, we're never going to like the same thing.
Β
If you look around you could start your own Raccoons fansite perhaps, once you've found a good web hosting site (a free one ) or some kind of group, but at the end of the day you can't really force peopleΒ to read or not read your stories.
Β
If you feel that strongly about it, maybe some time away from the fandom and giving things a rest may do you some good then.Β
