Description Had a description written for this one, but somehow...it disappeared on me when I posted it last night. I don't know how that happened...so I guess I gotta re-write from scratch Anyways, this is a screencap from the 1992 Chucklewood Critters special, "The Honeybunch"-a Valentine's Day-themed special. (I have plenty more screencaps from this special as I will probably spotlight it in more detail later, but that's for another time. Just wanted to put this one up now ) In this special, Buttons encounters a cute female bear cub while out skating on ice, called Bearbette. She's new to Chucklewood, having just moved from Crystal Bayou. When he first meets her, Buttons is instantly head over heels. He blushes profusely around her and has tons of hearts floating around his head, and comes off very shy and modest around her. Rusty is confused by Buttons' strange change of behavior, so he takes him to Ranger Jones for a diagnosis. Jonesy diagnoses Buttons with spring fever, which is basically a fancier term for having a crush He also brings up the holiday of Valentine's Day, a day in which we celebrate those sorts of lovin' feelings. Rusty is more interested in finding a cure for Buttons, however When he finds out Bearbette is longing for some of her favorite bayou honey, Buttons is determined, and the young bear manages to rope a reluctant Rusty into repairing the Adventure Machine. (Rusty isn't particularly enamored with the idea of doing something so rash just to impress a girl). They recruit their turtle friend, Turner, into helping them as he knows how to get there, and it's off to Crystal Bayou!

But things don't go very well when they do arrive there. They discover that the bayou honey is being guarded by an alligator named Lester, and when he catches onto their plans to take a bit of the honey, he assumes they are nothing more than common thieves and decides to thwart their efforts. The cubs try numerous plans to get Lester out of the way or get past him, but none work, and eventually Buttons and Rusty wind up trapped in quicksand, slowly sinking to their deaths. As they sink, Buttons sadly laments he'll never see that "sweet little Bearbette" again...and this turns wheels in Lester's head. He knows who Bearbette is; he's an old family friend of hers. In fact she asked him to guard the honey for her when she moved away! Now knowing that they just want to give her a present, Lester helps pulls the cubs out of the quicksand, and fetches them some bayou honey. He also fixes up the damaged Adventure Machine, and it's back off to Chucklewood for the cubs. They arrive just in time to present the honey to Bearbette, who has arrived at their cave with her folks to visit. But when they give her the honey...

...she doesn't believe they actually went to Crystal Bayou! Knowing that it's a long ways away and knowing nothing of the Adventure Machine, she assumes they must have just found some around the Park somewhere. Frustrated with having gone to so much effort for Buttons only to not be believed, Rusty and Turner storm off from the cave in a huff. (Unbeknownst to them, Bearbette does wind up believing them when Buttons mentions that Lester asked him to say hello to her for him.) As they walk off through the snow, the little fox openly hopes he never falls in love himself. "It makes you go crazy!" Of course, because he's tempting fate..."Hi there!" Surprised by the voice, Rusty turns to see who called to him, and catches his first glimpse of...Frisky! His eyes nearly bulge out of his head as he's instantly smitten, much to the shock and dismay of Turner. Frisky mentions she's new here as well and she wants to know where Pine Hollow is, as she doesn't know how to get there herself. Here, we see an eager-to-impress Rusty happily offering to show her there himself. And so, the two young foxes happily walk off together

Love at first sight...I don't entirely believe in it myself, but it sure is adorable, ain't it? Somehow you just knew with Rusty being frustrated with Buttons being in love and constantly saying it would never happen to him, this was going to end up happening Let us just hope Rusty didn't do anything bold and foolish to try to impress Frisky here! (We don't know for sure as this is where this special ends, but I can imagine...) You just know these two are gonna be mates as adults, don't you?

If Rusty and Frisky become mated in the future, let's just hope Rusty is smarter than his father George.

Well, considering Rusty is young and naive but in the process of learning more about the world...I'd have to say I imagine him in the future being a better father/spouse than his own father George is Though I have to wonder if when they're adults they'll still go out on adventures and the like. Perhaps they would with their future children? Maybe they would even make an even larger Adventure Machine big enough to accommodate adults and kids so they could still fly to wherever they want to know...Who knows?

Turner doesn't agree with you But yeah, it is really cute, isn't it? It's not really hinted at much at all after this, but you know they've still got a little torch for each other throughout the series

Haha, is it just me, or does Frisky look like she's making flirty eyes not only here...but about 90% of the time we see her on screen? Something tells me she's gonna grow up to be the 'seductive' type of vixen...Not that I think an adult Rusty would be complaining about that, mind you

Somehow I get the feeling that the cubs' folks probably met each other when they were about this age, too. Just call it a hunch I find it kind of funny that Rusty gets a crush too just seconds after openly wishing that what's happened to Buttons never happens to him, but that's what happens when you dare to tempt fate in there cartoons isn't it

Y'know, one thing I've noticed about Frisky-aside from the fact that she's one ridiculously cute critter, of course-is that she always seems to be making flirty eyes whenever she's on screen-probably never more evident than here! Said it before, but you just know she's gonna grow up to be quite foxy (if you'll excuse the bad pun considering, well, she is a fox). I don't imagine an adult Rusty would have any complaints about that though-long as she's still sweet on him
