Description One final screencap from "Christmas Raccoons"...just in time for Christmas! The Evergreen Forest has been saved as Cyril Sneer has been defeated and (forcibly) convinced to replant seedlings to replace all the chopped down trees. But all is not well, as Bert, Ralph, and Melissa are still homeless. On his way back to the cabin, Schaeffer takes them back to the tree stump that marks where the Raccoondominium once stood. He feels bad for the trio, but there's nothing much he can do. He ends up dropping them off near the cabin, as they say goodbye to him and sadly wish him a merry Christmas. Schaeffer tells them not to give up hope, but things seem BEYOND hope for our furry friends. But later, while Tommy and Julie are re-decorating their tree, they notice the gang's stockings. They wonder where they came from, and Schaeffer is all too glad to bring them to the window...where they witness Bert, Ralph, and Melissa curled up and freezing out in the wintry wonderland. They feel sorry for them and realize that their Christmas tree is their old home. They quickly call their father and ask him for help, and Ranger Dan tells them that he will do his best to find a new tree for them to live in. Here, we see an excited Schaeffer dashing out into the snow to greet the furry trio and give back their stockings. They're all delighted to discover they'll be getting a new home, and it's quite a happy scene...

And then Tommy and Julie wake up and find out it was all just a weird dream. Or...not, as they witness our furry trio cheerfully crawling up into their new home the next morning. The ending by and far is the worst part of the special for me. I HATE mind-screw endings like that never even get explained. Why did they have to do that? Oh well, this is still a nice and happy scene here...

And so, that brings my series of Raccoons screencaps to a close. I hope you all have enjoyed them during the past two years in which I've posted them...but I hope you'll all understand when I say I believe it's time to move past them and focus more on my writing instead. Everything has to come to an end someday, and I thought this last batch of "Christmas Raccoons" screencaps would be a good way to wrap things up. Merry Christmas to each and every one of my fellow Raccoons-loving friends, and I'll see you all in 2014!

I hope your Christmas was a happier one than mine turned out to be...

It was my pleasure posting all of these screencaps, but as I said, I feel it's time to move past posting them on here. I've posted WAY more than enough. I feel I should focus more on my writing as I've gotten more attention for the screencaps than my own stories, and you probably already know I would much rather it be the other way around. Plus, there's nothing really artistic about these screencaps...I might still post a collage now and then (there's a part of me that would like to make another Bert, Ralph, and Melissa collage), but this is going to be the last stand-alone screencap I'll post. Though I may post my large collection of Raccoons images on another website (The Raccoons wiki, perhaps?)

It's kind of sad that this special (and this scene right here) was the closest the humans ever came to actually interacting with the main cast. Had the writers actually bothered, they COULD have had them interact with them, which would have justified keeping them around, but instead, they opted to drop them entirely after the first season without ever having them discover they lived amongst a world of anthromorphs. I know I've said in the past that I hated the humans and would never touch them with a ten-foot pole, but you might be surprised to know I've actually changed my mind about them and am even strongly considering writing a human-centric Raccoons fic in the future...

It was a pity that the humans never interacted with the furries, but what are you going to do?

What are you going to do...? Why, write a story about it, of course!

But in all seriousness, that's one advantage fanfic writers have. No matter how many times we watch the show, the content of the episodes will never change. The same flaws and same interesting ideas that were never properly explored or were voluntarily passed up on by the writers will always be there. But fanfic writers like me CAN explore these ideas that the show never delved into. I already delved into the issues of our furry trio's pasts and Ralph and Melissa becoming parents...why not write a story starring the humans discovering the anthromorphic world around them?

I won't be writing one anytime in the NEAR future, though, it's just something I would like to try out at some point in the future. I will say if I ever do end up writing such a story, it would HAVE to be non-canon to all the rest of my stories since...well, in my stories you're well aware that the world is entirely populated by furries. Not that I couldn't write something completely separate to the rest of my stories, though But as I said, it's just an idea I'll probably save for later.

And a good idea at that.
