Description
Yet another "Christmas Raccoons" screencap, and a rather amusing one at that! Our furry heroes appear to have succeeded in their quest to take back their Christmas stockings...but everything goes wrong when Melissa accidentally knocks a Christmas ball off of the Raccoondominium. Ralph tries to catch it, but it fall and hits the floor. Schaeffer quickly wakes up, and, seeing as he is on guard duty, immediately begins chasing them around the cabin. In the process, Melissa loses the gang's stockings. She tries to pick them up, but Ralph tells her to forget about them as they flee the cabin, Schaeffer following close behind them. We're in for some really wacky hijinks as our furry trio proceed to commandeer a stranded pontoon boat and flee on it across the icy lake...complete with countryish banjo music playing (PADDLE FASTER!). Alas, they're not able to escape the sheepdog, and eventually end up crashing the boat and are on the run once again. But as Schaeffer chases them down a hill, he trips, and soon all four of them are caught up in a giant snowball tumbling down the hill. It crashes into a building (which, unbeknownst to them, is Cyril Sneer's lumber mill), and here we see Bert, Ralph, Melissa, and Schaeffer all lying in a jumbled heap, dazed and surprised. Melissa is no doubt checking her feet, while we can only really see Ralph's nose and mouth in a kind of Charlie Brown-esque pose. 'AAARRRGGHHH'. Poor Schaeffer has a head ache (from banging his head on the mill I'll bet) and Bert looks high in the snow. Trust Bert to get the goofiest pose.

Do you think Melissa might have broken one of her claws? And funnily enough I could actually see Ralph being a lot like Charlie Brown when he was younger...although I'm not sure I could see Bert pulling a football away from him time and time again
Yeah, they definitely overdid Bert's goofiness in this special, like I said before. But like I said, it was only the first special and every show has to start somewhere. It would have been shocking if this special actually had top notch animation and all the characters perfectly in character to how we know them in the show...wouldn't it?

Probably? Probably not?
Melissa could have very well broken one of her claws bless her, though I don't see Bert being the one to pull a football (American Rugby Ball ) away rom Ralph, more like it would have been one of Cyril's pigs.

It would be fairly painful for Melissa to break one of her claws, but at least it will heal in due time. Better a broken claw than a broken foot!
LOL at the pigs pulling the football away from Ralph. I can see the Pigs being around the same age as our furry heroes (though they sure as hell act less than half their age), but that scenario could have never played itself out when they were kids seeing as we find out later in the show they're not originally from the Forest (their mother's house was destroyed by a hurricane, and I'm pretty sure hurricanes don't hit western Canada...)
Funny, mentioning Ralph getting a football pulled away from of him reminded me of something. Have you heard that the NFL is actually strongly considering putting a team in London in the near future? I can understand why they would want to do that (the annual NFL game in London routinely sells out and putting a team there could very well attract more attention to the NFL in the UK (and possibly, throughout Europe) seeing as they would have a home team to pull for), but you would think if they want to add foreign teams to their league, they'd start with Canada...

Somehow I doubt that would happen, if anything it would defeat the purpose of having the league be called the NFL wouldn't it, as it would no longer be national? Though there is NFL fans here in the UK, I see it as a very expensive venture to start and maintain a UK team here. Besides it would somewhat be a bit of a slap to the face to have a team play a game which has a lot of altered rules to a game that we originally invented wouldn't it?
I just pictured Ralph and friends playing 'American Football' with the Pigs as adults anyway and they'll very easily pull a 'Lucy Van Pelt' under Cyril's instruction.

The NBA has a Canadian basketball team and nobody questions their name, do they? Apparently the NFL is interested in becoming a global phenomenon, hence why they want to put a team in London. I guess they want the sport to be every bit as popular worldwide as football/soccer itself...which I can't really see happening. Like you said, there is a niche market for the sport in the UK, but while bringing a team to England might make fans out of a few more people, I can't see the majority of the country suddenly becoming fans of American football. Plus, there are a lot of other problems with this too...what conference would they play in, for one? But the NFL is VERY adamant on it happening in the near future (and most of our media has concluded it WILL happen by the end of the decade), so you probably will see a team in your hometown very soon...
Like I said, why not just put a team in Canada? The NBA and the MLB both have Canadian teams, and American football happens to be highly popular there as well-they have their own Canadian league, after all! I would think they would be a lot more receptive to getting a team than the UK...
Cyril is trying to disrupt friendly games of football between our furry heroes? Good grief, as a villain that would be falling to a new low

If that's so, it will probably be like the XFL, a team will only exist for one season, then disappear, I have my doubts it will stay for a long period of time or if it will ever be created at all. Hopefully, the NL will be a lot less idiotic and start a team in Canada which seems to be the natural choice, though they need to change their name from NFL to NAFL and the same goes for the NBA so that they can become the NABA NA=North American of course.
Well he's softened up now so I guess Cyril's new goal is to earn as many sports trophies as possible, then re-sell them on eBay.
