As a Touhou fan, I know what a tsukumogami is, and I'm not hesitant to rag on people who hate object-based Pokemon because they're "uncreative". I'm actually quite fond of how some Pokemon, like Klink, are tsukumogami of things that never existed in ancient Japan. If Gen 5 pokemon were released in Gen 1, and Gen 1 was released in Gen 5, no doubt people would be complaining about "Orange Barney" and "It's just a puddle of purple Goo!"
