Description
Number four on line.Had a couple of days off but working hard.
Put a lot of foliage in trying to set the atmosphere and mood, I want to try and get the viewer to feel like a bird and be in under the trees canopy and a little bit of vertigo.
Still working darker than I want and trying to get the feeling of how the light will come down through the branches which will be the last part of the painting.
If you paint in to higher key then you lack the contrast to get white to look brighter than it really is, which is as bright as a painter can get and I will not be using straight white.
Any questions please ask.

Ah this is just what I needed to hear. I truly am appreciating your sharing your work and knowledge. I always struggled to get those highlights to stand out and now I know why. so a big hug and a thankyou from me. And I like the way you suggest the bird's etye view and the vertigo!

Her name is Jenny-Ann! No brushwork yet but as soon as the rains come I will be into it. Think the paint would dry before I started at the mo!

That's why I couldn't remember, she has two names. We're getting all the rain at the moment and it's cold too. I will remind you mid Autumn.

Really starting to come along now. Love the addition of all the scattered shadows. Really adds quite a lot to the atmosphere. Tower is looking great. Branches are also looking great. Not much left to go, looking forward to seeing the final stages.

I actually did paint something in watercolours the other day. I quickly sketched a scene of that Levens Hall and topiary garden and was then equally quick with the painting side, just to get a feel for the paints again. I might do this a few more times - just very rough (rubbish!) paintings - and then finally attempt something in greater detail and take more care over it.
