Description
So I finally finished it! Sorry for the wait guys.I hope I explained things well enough, and as always if you have questions I'll be happy to help. But please make sure you read over it carefully before asking a question, or scan the comments real quick to see if someone else asked it and I answered them. :3
And yes, you DO need translucent clay for the realistic clear effect. White clay will work if you do not want it to look realistic. Translucent clay can be found where all the other clay can be found. It's sort of a weird off-white color. A picture of it is in the tutorial.
If you want it to be shiny you must glaze it with a polymer clay glaze. I forgot to mention that in the tutorial. :3 I use Sculpey Gloss.
IF YOU USE THIS, PLEASE LINK BACK TO ME so other people can learn too! Also please show me what you create! I'd love to see your creations. :3 If you want to see work people have done inspired by my tutorials check here: [link]
If you want to buy some rock candy necklaces from me, you can check these out! I would also be more than happy to do a custom color for you, just ask.

l love your tutorial - just one thing springs to mind. Have you tried just doing chopped transluscent clay and then applying alcohol ink to the baked surface once it is on the stick? l am thinking of doing this as it may look more dyed like the real candy is. The best translucent clay is by Pardo - expensive, but it is very good.

XD This is sooo much harder than it looks..at least for me it was!
Even after baking, all the pieces were starting to fall off!
Ahh, well, I've never had luck using TLS =w=;

I'm going to try this but do you think sculpty bake adhesive would work instead of TLS?

GrandmaThunderpants In reply to IbiteU [2012-10-02 04:37:53 +0000 UTC]
In most situations the two aren't interchangeable, but in this one they are! Bake&Bond will still work for this.

Looks easier than it was xD I had trouble getting the "rocks" to stay on the tooth pick long enough to move it over to my baking sheet to bake. xD Took me three hours lololol. Hopefully next time I'll do better [link]

No, I'm only 23. xD It's actually a Venture Brothers reference from an early episode where giant grandma underwear are talked about, but I thought it was catchy so I just named my business after it!

okay.
oh my gosh they are kinda hard to make, i got em all cut up, and baked em for 5 mins like you said, then i dipped a tooth pick into my translucent liquid sculpey, and tried rolling it on the pieces but all it does it fall off, or slides then falls off. i tried for a good hour and just gave up. any advice? :3

GrandmaThunderpants In reply to Aerillie27 [2012-04-27 17:19:07 +0000 UTC]
You'll need to do this a LOT. Don't expect for all of the pieces to stick right away. Just bake with any pieces on that stick, then keep building up. It will look barren and weird the first few times, you're just building up layers. It's okay if the first layer is thin.
