Description
30-minute-ish pencil/ink doodle. Based on the 1977 Rankin/Bass Hobbit cartoon (particularly Gollum.. I luvs me some salamandery Gollum)...I'll probably put this in my 2008 sketchbook, which I'll pimp out on my site in early '08, if you're interested in checkin' that out.
And if you've never seen the 1977 cartoon , you'd better find it and watch it, because it's awesome.

Gollum looks like the old school Gollum from the old animation movie! Perfect for this cartoon version of the master piece named The Hobbit or Their and Back Again.

I remember the cartoon movie, though I didn't watch it much. I was always reminded of The Last Unicorn(Also Rankin/Bass) due to the way the characters were drawn. I knew right off the bat that this was based on the cartoon one(blame gollum)

I grew up watching this movie until the VHS burned up in the VCR and promptly whined until the dvd was purchased <3
I love your style of line work and this just topped out a great day. Favorited so I can keep coming back to it and have a chuckle

That reminds me I need to find the old Hobbit and Return of the King on DVD. Oh and that Ralph Bakshi version of the Lord of the Rings. (Wasn't anywhere as good as the live action one, but it was still pretty good.)

Great piece (you must digitally color it!!! ... Or perhaps I should... hmmm)
I loves me some old school Hobbit!!
Gollum was just about my favorite thing ever (next to Star Wars), and I had the LP from the movie, and played the crap out of it... and damn if it didn't have some gorgeous artwork from the movie on it! Stared at that thing as much as my Star Wars trading cards...
Ahhh, the late 70's.
I'm psyched they're finally moving forward on the new Hobbit!

Yeah, man - I LOVED the old Hobbit cartoon. To this day, I wish I still had my little storybook with all the pictures.
I'll send a large version of this to ya -- It'd be awesome to see you color it!

And are you doing this because the Hobbits movie was offically announced to happen?
I have seen the 1977 Hobbits animation, it's really interesting.

**And are you doing this because the Hobbits movie was offically announced to happen?**
Actually, yeah, that was the main reason I doodled this tonight. I've been on a Hobbit high ever since I heard the news!

So have I!
There're news about the Hobbits everywhere I think. But it will be better if PJ can direct it...well, as long as he is part of this project, it won't disappoint us.
