Description
For most, the near fatal lab accident that robotics engineer Lucretia de Loccia suffered a few years ago would have been the end -for her, it was only the beginning...A commissioned piece featuring the original character Lucretia de Loccia by *ProfessorBlues
First off, this would have to be the first major commissioned piece... or not commissioned that actually got put into the drawing section as opposed to the painting section. It took me a little while to make up my mind where it should be put but looking at the process of creating it, I did a whole hell of a lot more pen and ink work on this one then watercolor.
Most all of the subtle color shifts in the work as well as a lot of the shaded areas is the result of hatching and cross hatching with various colored inks. In fact, the background is actually only two light watercolor washes (one in Raw Seinna and touch ups in Sepia) with pen and ink work for all the color shifts, line work, detail, etc. And I have ~grumpygoat to thank for reminding me that laying down a nice yellowish wash is a good thing! I was about to painstakingly paint sepia and umber tones into the line work until I ran across her tutorial and went, "hey, wait a minute, you can do that"
So, to sum this piece up:
1) Loved working on some cybernetics for a change... god I love flesh and metal!
2) Prismacolor Fine Line markers have given unto me a joy yet unnamed. I would marry them except that the sex would just be awkward.
3) I just needed something else to justify a list.
Medium: pen and ink and watercolor on 300lbs hotpressed watercolor paper

Thank you! I've never really been able to do in pen, ink, and watercolor what I did on this one and kind of wish I could get back in the frame of mind I was in that made it possible.

And if you want, you could have a piece from me. I try to have a wide range of prices so those poor souls like me could still afford something

OK check it, I got the original in the mail...
and as awesomely awesome as the hi-rez scan is, it doesn't compare to the MINDBLOWING detail in the original work.

It's tremendously horrific. This kind of interaction of flesh and technology has always been a favorite of mine since growing up with Heavy Metal.

I received the hi-rez version from Graver, and my GOD the detail!! especially in her armor - ventilation grids, access panels, all sorts of cool stuff. Plus you can see the angry pink inflammation of her skin around the edges of the cybernetics.
In this picture she looks a bit Freakshow-ish, but while their stuff is shade-tree crude, hers is a symphony of engineering.
Again, this is an amazing piece of art. My wife will probably think I'm nuts, but I intend to get it framed (or at least matted) once the original arrives.

I'm just glad you like it. When ever I think of cybernetics, I can't think of them interacting in a happy kind of way with the body. They are a inorganic intrusion and the incredible invasiveness of the idea of cybernetics is what really fascinates me about the concept of them.

I would definetely intend on getting it framed. My Graver peice now sits up on the wall as the centrepeice in my study. And I must say looks amazing, and drew many comments at the art/framing shop when I took it in.

Thank you... I try to make each piece as good as or better then the last. I can't seem to just mechanically turn works out, i have to find some way to challenge my self or make it a new and novel thing else I'd be incredibly board with them and it would show.

The subdued color came part from Satara's tutorial and part, well, from the notion that I needed to delineate past and present. Faded sepia and yellow is the color of the past. The rest of the tones actually came in as just hatched ink from my new oh so lovely pens... it gave the entire background a great subdued look that i never would have thought possible with pen work
