A simple illustration inspired by my OC Lilianne's past, her with one of the two stillborn calves she had prior to being moved to NED. From a little outline I threw together last week, and only colored today.Related content

Wow... Fantastic work! The backstory of the picture is quite sad, and you captured the emotion of the scene quite well. The shading and lighting were very well executed, as well.

My mother could relate to Lilianne's experience.
1st time is just... horrible. But 2nd... eghghh.

But it doesn't diminish whatsoever the toll of suffering each and every one of us experiences.

but never diminish the significance or personhood
of life which could of been, but was too weak to carry on.
Life is so fragile, it should be treasured above all else...
whenever we are fortunate enough to witness it bloom and prosper.

Yes. I didn't want her sorrow to come off as too heavy-handed, but that's why I left this open to viewer's interpretation: whether this was her first or second stillborn, the grief was much the same in both cases.

Yes. I was working from the knowledge that not a lot of commerson's dolphins have been born in captivity, and most of those that have haven't lived very long.

Not a lot of commerson's dolphins have ever been born in captivity. It was that fact that made me decide adding this kind of tragedy to her background would make her sullen, snippy nature more justifiable.
