Description
Group painting!Gift for and of our four commie OCs from an RP at Cetus Sea. The title alludes to their varying origins:
- Tiki (far left) was born in captivity.
© whitetippedwaves
- Neko (second left) was born at the same aquarium as Tiki.
© whitetippedwaves
- Lilianne (second right) was rescued from stranding as a calf in the Kerguelen Islands.
© me
- Zipper (far right) was taken from the waters off the coast of Argentina.
© AnoOrca
All have their own particular views on captivity and people, owing to their different experiences. Hopefully these will be further explored as the RP goes on.
Why? Because commerson's dolphins don't get enough love.

Thanks. I took especial care to give each one different traits from the next. Lili's 'eyebrows' for example, no one else has them. Tiki and Neko, being from the same aquarium, are similar in poise, and Zipper's got a look all her own with that mostly-white jaw.

Exactly. Thank you. Even if their body type is a pain to outline right, when it is, it's a very rewarding feeling.

Commies can give any other dolphin a run for their money in terms of cute.
You're welcome. I didn't anticipate it happening so soon, but outlining one led to the other, and before I knew it, I had this outline on my hands to color and bring to life.

Glad you like it.
I'm already thinking of other painting ideas involving these four; my commie muse isn't quite satiated. Which already makes me so regret offering to help a friend with a garage sale all weekend long. Plenty of time to think, but no time to get more outlines done. We'll see.

Thank you.
Indeed. They're quite the nice switch from working on painting after painting of orcas. The head shape is arguably the trickiest part. But in some ways, they're almost easier than orcas to outline. Once the head shape is nailed, the rest follows without much struggle.
You're welcome.

Welcome ^-^
The body shape isn't too difficult for me, but the head is enough to make or break a sketch attempt x__x You seem to have gotten a handle on it pretty quickly though ^-^

I see. I think the trick to it is actually drawing them with a rostrum, then using a line to connect their 'forehead' to their 'nose', thereby erasing the gap between the two. Not sure if it's the most accurate method, but it seems to work for me.
