Description Here's a colored take on the multiform Roadstriker used by the evil Axis terrorist group in the Mekton supplement "Operation Rimfire." I tell ya, designing a transformable car that doesn't look like it belongs amidst the Transformers is hard.

Here's a link to the Badlander's lineart:
tennozeorymer.deviantart.com/a...

In coloring the lineart, I finally had the opportunity to fix an issue with the original drawing: in the black-and-white, the Badlander's chest is too narrow. Look at the windshield in vehicle mode and robot mode and you'll see what I mean. I really should replace the original front view lineart with the lineart from this file...

Anyway, this image and design is TM and copyright and everything R. Talsorian Games, inc. No infringement intended, etc.

I always imagined the badlander to be more like a beaten up old pickup truck, with dents and rusty edges, half worn off paint, etc.

I've always wanted to see a car type transformable Mobile Suit. All the others are Tanks and Jets

Grebo-Guru In reply to DaiGuard78 [2013-06-27 04:01:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not a Mobile Suit, per se... But I appreciate the approval. The main reason you don't see Mobile Suits that turn into cars is because Mobile Suits are HUGE. A Mobile Suit car would be bmuch igger than an eighteen-wheeler truck!

That much I figured. But it's still nostalgic to see something like this. And besides, they put MS on trucks to transport them. I think the could build a MS like this if they wanted to. Especially in the UC age of MS miniaturization

Grebo-Guru In reply to DaiGuard78 [2013-06-27 05:12:06 +0000 UTC]

True, true... I supposed a transformable Middle MS, or Petite MS, or Quarter-Suit could work. And I mean, hey, the Loto is awfully small for an MS, and it transforms into an APC.

DaiGuard78 In reply to Grebo-Guru [2013-06-27 19:03:09 +0000 UTC]

Come to think of it. Wouldn't it be practical to have a MS that can transform into a truck of sorts, so it can transport other MS?

Grebo-Guru In reply to DaiGuard78 [2013-06-28 04:56:15 +0000 UTC]

Wellllllll, an MS that transforms into a truck which carries other MSs would be awfully large. I mean, consider this:

DaiGuard78 In reply to Grebo-Guru [2013-06-28 05:19:23 +0000 UTC]

Huh.... First time seeing one of those. I just figured a MS that transformed into something like a semi could pull trailers with MSs on board. It wouldn't need to be very large then.

Also have you ever noticed the similarities between the Transformers and the characters from the Vigilante 8 games?

I don't even know of the Vigilante 8 games! :-/

DaiGuard78 In reply to Grebo-Guru [2013-06-28 05:42:05 +0000 UTC]

They are a set of games for N64 and PS1. It's sort of an alternate past kinda thing where in the 70s two groups of peope that drive cars with guns on them fight each other. The good guys are called the Vigilantes. Their leader is a guy called convoy that drives a yellow semi. (In Japan they called Optimus Prime Convoy. Coincidence?) And the bad guys are called the Coyotes. They are mecinaries of sorts that are made up mostly of megolomaniacs that are disgruntled with the government, in it for the money, or are just plain crazy. The leader of the Coyotes is Sid Burn. A megatron-ish kinda guy. Fairly charasmatic with a steriotypical villian look. The games have a decent variety of unique vehicles to drive. Ranging from sportscars to school buses. The whole thing honestly seems inspired by Transformers to some level. And the games are loved by fans. I also have a tribute video on youtube [link]

A car's hard to pull off. You need to take into account the fact that the passenger compartment comprises something between 50 and 90% of the car's actual volume.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Grebo-Guru In reply to Firevalkyrie [2013-06-27 04:04:14 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, that was part of the challenge... Hence the barrel-chested look of the Badlander. Most Transformers have to spit out their passengers before they change to robot mode. :-/
