Description
Been a while since I've done pokemon stuff, decided to pick the concept of halfbreeds back up. This time I used egg moves as the base for the father choice. Before going into specifics: cross-breeding dragon types is highly regulated and often prohibited, dragon types are already incredibly strong and hard to manage, making halfbreeds of this category even more dangerous. The hydreigon line specifically is incredibly wild and tough to train, only highly skilled trainers are allowed to own one.
- Astonish, altaria father: probably the only commonly allowed breed of deino, the altaria genetics make this pokemon shyer than the rest and is often recommended alongside other swablu halfbreeds for less experienced dragon trainers, before they start working with purebred individuals. Lighter colored and with very soft, feathery fur, but a sharper than normal, almost bird-like beak.
- Assurance, haxorus father: while this breed is more loyal and protective of their trainer, they're still considered extremely dangerous because of their heightened territorial behavior; on top of that, their bite is more dangerous thanks to the longer fang-like protrusions on the sides of their beaks. Their breeding is largely discouraged but some are still in circulation, being still more manageable than a purebred individual if properly bonded to a trainer.
- Fire fang, charizard father: this one il also not allowed due to how much of a gamble breeding them is, while some hatchlings take on the qualities that make charizard a good starter (calm and loyal) some take on the worse side of the coin (proud, territorial and stubborn), which coupled with the standard hydreigon temperament makes them extremely dangerous and near-impossible to train. They don't have as strong of a dragon attack, but their firepower is extremely increased and when fully evolved they're exceptional fliers. While they're banned, charizard popularity means that some still pop up from time to time, either from inexperienced breeders that don't know any better, or from illegal black market ones.
- Ice fang, gyarados father: Quite possibly one of the most dangerous breeds; while it is very weak and lazy as a deino, by the time it reaches full maturity it becomes an absolute menace. Wildly uncontrollable, prone to rampaging and attacking everything in sight even unprovoked; this halfbreed is 100% illegal. The few that exist have been sterilized and placed in natural reserves to live out their lives, they've been shown to enjoy diving and jumping out of lakes, despite not being built for water.
- Head smash, tyrantrum father: Another dangerous breed, their powerful jaws make their biting habit as deino even more dangerous, on top of often being a bit bratty and throwing dangerous tantrums. As an adult it's even more proud than the fire fang breed, with the power to back up its threats; due to being partly an ancient pokemon, it doesn't do well as captive and is very dangerous. The only instance of this halfbreed occurring has been recorded when the hydreigon of an inexperienced trainer ran off in a natural reserve and met some wild tyrantrum, the resulting clutch has been sterilized and placed in the reserve to live out their life.
- Thunder fang, salamance father: Another dangerous breed, tough not as much as the previous two; as a deino it has an increased tendency to headbutt everything and a strong desire to fly. As it evolves it becomes a great flier with lots of endurance, with a penchant for stunts; however it is also incredibly dangerous when enraged, the salamance side enhancing its natural tendency to rampage. Because of this they're also illegal to breed, and it's recommended to just stick to purebred individuals of either species; however a few are still in circulation, and have been put in the care of highly skilled dragon trainers like Lance, Iris and Drayden.
Whew this took a few days to write on and off, but I'm happy I got it done, I missed doing these.
I haven't abandoned this fandom, I just have so much more stuff on my brain and it's hard to juggle, especially since pokemon is my childhood and I want to do anything related to it justice.
