*Does an happy dance* and here we have, the fruit of today's work and late night youtube browsing.
The other day I found a video of an orangutan with a long, flowing cape of dreadlocks, and I immediately started thinking of how to incorporate that into a character design... then remembered TLK mandrills are a thing. At first I was going to have Kwashi be the name of Nefu's father also being Rafiki's brother, with the dreadlocks being from the mother side... until I had this idea and switched it around C:

So this guy, this guy is Nefu's father, the "husband" of Rafiki's sister, in quotation marks because he's not exactly committed or... monogamous at all; he just helped her have a child and then kinda popped in and out Nefu's life, more like a crazy uncle than a dad. While Kwashi is technically part of Khalfani/Jelani's troop, he's more of an hermit and stays by himself, he's a chill guy that snacks on fermented fruit and writes songs and poems; not really the responsable type.

The name is one Rafiki had in the first TLK scripts, I also kinda used one of the illustrations from that period as a base for the colors on his older self; Nefu gets quite a few things from him, including the dreadlocks (of course) and the darker brown belly. He was a real charmer in his younger days wasn't he?
