Of course he didn't think about that! All he could think about was his sweet revenge. He didn't stop to think about Charles and how much does this revenge cost him! If Charles let go of Shaw for just a second, Shaw would vaporize Erik in an instant! So he had to hold on even though... aaa! Erik, how can you be so selfish!

Hmmm. It really threw me off though. I mean..I think the first time I saw it I thought "Yeah he doesn't know," but then I saw that he shed a tear and started thinking "Hrm, maybe he did know", either that or it was just a really..emotionally intense thing for him, which would make sense too. Idk though. I tried googling for an answer but didn't find anything mentioned in any interviews with the actors. DX

Oh I know! It was very..I'm not sure of the word, but the fact that Charles would go so far, allowing another to die and dealing with the excruciating pain of that death both through the connection and his conscious just to keep Erik safe was just..fdjksl. Very..intense. It was..I kind of want to say love but it's deeper than that. A sacrifice of sorts for someone he's close to/is closer to than anyone else because of the connection they have.

Sorry this is so long. I ramble when I'm tired. OTL

You are so right! That's exactly why this was my favorite scene. All those slash writers are inventing some physicality of their relationship, but they ignore the amazing depth and intensity of what is already in the movie.
And the most amazing thing? Charles doesn't say a word about it. He doesn't complain, he doesn't even tell Erik about what he did for him. An for all his sacrifice, Erik just leaves him wounded on a beach, targeted by two battle fleets, and vanishes with the only means of transport around.

Yeah. D: I mean..I've read some fanfictions that do portray that connection but I don't think they do it enough, or grasp it enough. I've only come across a couple that really make me all intense when I'm reading them because they get pretty close to that..vibe they give off.
Exactly. D: I think that just makes it even more heartbreaking, because Erik just doesn't know how far Charles went for him, against his own beliefs and safety. fdjksl.

Exactly.
I haven't actually full on cried yet, I keep waiting for it to happen lol, but I did get reeeally emotional, which is kind of rare. I just. fdjksl. So intense. So..unwordable.

Agreed.
Charles did everything for Erik and Erik just leaves then, ...like THAT?!
What would he have done if he heard the 'I can't feel my legs'?
...
And still Charles tries to see the best in people.
After all the things he's been put through by his once-best friend.

I would repeat all the things you've said before, but the would be a waste of time to a selfish 'man' like Erik.
(I hate him now. Charles is my hero.)
