Description
"What is your name, girl?" I asked the jester."Oh, I don't have a name" she answered happily. "Names are slippery buggers you see. Slips right off me they do, never seem to want to hang around for long."
She put her head in her hands and peered at me. "Ooooh, I know!" she said, "why dontcha name me? If you name me I'm sure the name will stick around for a while."
"I don't know..."
"Aww, come now, you don't get to name a fool every day!"
I looked at her. She looked back with that mirthful face of hers. Inspiration struck. "Then I shall name you ... Mirth" I said.

I'd say, a lot of areas in real life have sharper transitions. Projected shadows, or folds in draperies for examples.
I think you got it right in the forehead. So the other shadows generated by the candle light should be sharp, since the character is so close to it. I'm thinking about shadows from the sleeve (on the left), or shadows from the hand on the cheek.
Also, the brighter areas of highlights should be a tad sharper too.
I love the eyes though.

Those are good points. More dramatic shadowing could indeed fit here. Problem with sharp shadow edges is how it potentially confuses the eye. Keeping some sort of ambient light helps to show off all features - but for more realism this is indeed something one should really learn to ignore, you are right. Thanks a lot for your elaboration, has given me much to think about!

Oh, I like this very much!
I like how her face is both pretty but, at the same time, she has that same "strangeness" that seems to be usual to jesters. And such beautiful ambiance, perfectly capturing the light of this tavern/inn. Especially how the light of the candle reflects on the golden bell!
As a writer, I must say I found this a very inspiring scene, which I feel like describing perfectly, just for fun!
