Description
"What is your name, girl?" I asked the jester."Oh, I don't have a name" she answered happily. "Names are slippery buggers you see. Slips right off me they do, never seem to want to hang around for long."
She put her head in her hands and peered at me. "Ooooh, I know!" she said, "why dontcha name me? If you name me I'm sure the name will stick around for a while."
"I don't know..."
"Aww, come now, you don't get to name a fool every day!"
I looked at her. She looked back with that mirthful face of hers. Inspiration struck. "Then I shall name you ... Mirth" I said.

A lot of experimenting with light in this one. Critique and feedback is appreciated as always.
MyPaint + GIMP, a bunch of evenings.

Great piece of art! Nice lighting and use of colors. I also like the clothes and subtle design on the girl's right sleeve. I also want to thank you for your great tutorials, they have helped me on my own little journey into using Gimp and MyPaint.

Wow, this is very beautiful. I like the colors and the details within both background and foreground.
I wish I was this good in MyPaint, I'm still learning how to use it to my advantage.

Thanks, glad you like it!
MyPaint is a nice little program, very natural for painting I think, and combined with GIMP the two programs become a very useful combo for digital art.
You have some interesting character concepts in your gallery there already, just keep at it!

You're welcome! And many thanks, I'll keep trying to practice and become better. I think I need a tablet since both mouse and touchpad is not working for me on improving my skill. D:

I like this, especially her fine strands of hair.. It just bewildered me because I knew that character from a picture where she was sad or crying, not sure anymore, so now I can't really tell if I believe the happiness she shows You know, talking about first impression of a person...

The crying girl is actually another person (it's intended to be the Unknown girl from Red Apples Lie). I never considered the two to be similar, but now that you mention it I can see why they can be confused! I've never displayed the jester as being anything but merry though.

Thanks for your clarification! I saw that other picture AGES ago, and my memory for faces is terribly weak, so no wonder I got confused...by bad.
Now I can see jester girl as the person she is supposed to be

I don't know why, but I find this picture very attractive. Probably because of her eyes and emotions - looks so natural... Wow. Can't say much. Simply love this one.
