I love creative processes! They're so hard to find, but I always always desire to see into the history of something made once I've experienced it (especially when it's interesting to me). You seemed at first like someone who had the impossible ability to blast incredible creations out of nothing in no time. But, after this--oh my goodness! She's human after all! I have sat and stared at my sketchbook or journal when wanting to draw or write and nothing happens for hours. I'll try the tip of occupying my time with other things, maybe a walk alone in the park or a talk with someone dear; those sound like they might provide the most potential for inspiration~ I don't mean to chuck so many words at you, but I suppose I like to yap when I'm excited! :'D

I am glad! We all somehow do things similar even if we dont. Its good to remember that we can do anything we want if we really put time and effort into it ^^

I read this tutorial and when you got to the random scribble of lines I said to myself, "Duuude! That totally looks like a thing!"
So I finished reading your tutorial and said to myself "wow, that background is not even close to what I saw. I'm going to draw what it looks like to me."
When I finished drawing what I saw, I thought, "hey. I will give her the link to this. Not because it's even remotely awesome but because it's what I see in the mystical scribbles darnit."
So here it is :3

I have a question:How the hell did you make lines disapeir when you added the colors.
π: 0 β©: 1
griffsnuff In reply to Dragonita1 [2012-01-18 03:00:30 +0000 UTC]
The lines were on their own layer xD so I could just delete that layer haha
π: 0 β©: 1
Dragonita1 In reply to griffsnuff [2012-01-18 06:22:38 +0000 UTC]
But, when I do that, it all becomes blurry and messed up
π: 0 β©: 1
griffsnuff In reply to Dragonita1 [2012-01-18 06:46:24 +0000 UTC]
well you dont have to delete the lines x3 you can also make a new layer and draw cleanup details there and make the lines be under it, because then it wont be messed up, its hard to explain, but you just have to keep adding details and clean up the things you feel look messed up

After reading this I was thinking about how this structure that puts the focus on the subject in this way could maybe be a pro-western way of doing art. I heard that a study was done on people looking at pictures that tracked people's eye movements over the pictures. They found that western people's eyes jumped straight to the subject of the picture, while people from eastern cultures studied the background first and then came around to the subject. People who were raised in western cultures but who's parents grew up in eastern cultures were in between. But then I was thinking maybe this is actually pro-EASTERN, in that if your eyes like to wander around the whole of the picture first, maybe you need subtle guidance lines to bring your eyes home...
Now I'm wondering how culture affects how eyes rest upon a picture and if you studied that too. Am I thinking WAY too much?
