Good job with this! Thanks a ton! I always end up adding too much detail for things and it frustrates me. Now I will try to add detail only where it matters.

Wow Griff, this is great! I remember learning certain things like the rule of three when I was much younger, but I totally forgot about it... and now I can see just how it effects the work!
Also, just scribbling on the canvas is AWESOME. That's something I would do when I was younger, and I don't know WHY I stopped. Seriously, this is making me feel super ambitious right now! Thanks!

To be honest, I've heard of the rule of third for the first time but I believe it will be very helpful in the future. I must say, I don't have much practice with the backgrounds, cause I always think if I do the background, it will only affect badly the character. I never plan the background from the start and I add it or not later. But You showed me such thinking wasn't very wise and also that the backgroud could do much good but if used in a good way. I appreciate that You took the time and did this shared your thoughts and those few tips. Surely, I will commit them to memory. Thank You
(hope my english wasn't to terrible ^^")

Wow. Theres a lot more thought and depth in a relatively simple painting than I would have thought. I usually just sit in front of my screen and start randomly drawing. This is just... wow. Made me think about composition in a whole different way. Thank you <3

thanks to you, I have now overcome my artblock. You have my gratitude!
I have a question though, do you do all this on one layer, or multiple layers?

griffsnuff In reply to PoisonedRose12 [2011-04-26 05:02:15 +0000 UTC]
I like to keep it on as few as i possibly can. I had one layer for the sketch, and one for the drawing. The lightrays had a seperate layer but it was merged to the rest when i started details ^^
