Description DO not use this as reffrence for 100% realistic wings

Many have been asking me about wings lately, I guess this is the simplest way of explaining how they work without all those confusing feater parts of the wing xD

Exactly my point!

What we really need is inspiration to how wings can be constructed without reading a foot-long slip of a .pdf.

I think this takes the basics, which is just better and encourages to make your own style of drawing wings.

I'll definately use yours

There is a "thumb" feather that sticks out of the wind cup area that measures the ambient air while the bird is flying.

One thing I always dislike about some dragon figurines or drawings is how many of their arms are just one long curved bone with the fingers at the end. I always look at it and say 'Nope, nope. Not how it works'

Stuff like this (bad example but whatever):www.google.ca/imgres?biw=1920&…

This helps a lot! Now I see how exaggerated and weird a lot of my wings were before.

Just wonderin though, how many people saw the compare/contrast of the bird and human and did the same pose? XD

Kind of déja-vu, but the only thing that is new for me is I didn't know that wings could be separated in two parts, like you done in coloring. Was there an another way, fingers are used for wings too?

Well, thank you for the tutorial.

griffsnuff In reply to WizzDono [2013-09-30 00:09:10 +0000 UTC]

xD well if you really want to cartoonify your wings you can make it so that the 5 outer feathers are fingers. they do that on ZAso in lionking
