Oh, one more thing (). Do you really work just twice 650 px wide? Because I'm using 8px brushes to do the lineart as you said and man, mine are HUGE lines, and the drawing looks...fat. The panel lines are also too wide, (10px). I swear I'm working at 1300x1960 pixels and I think it should be a bigger canvas... :S

Why, yes, I work 1300px wide o:
Linewise, the thing about using 8px counts for tablet users, because I never press hard enough to reach full linesize. Do you use a tablet? If not, you should consider using thinner lines, like 6 or 4px.

Also, the comic example ([link] ) is a pretty bad one.
If you take a look at this , you'll see the lines are much thicker.

But of course, the thickness of the lines used is a matter of style. :3 If you're not comfortable with thick lineart, you should maybe use thin lines. But keep in mind that thin lineart (like 3-4px) is very hard to color 100% accurate.

Yeah, I use tablet, a Bamboo Fun. As I found 8px too much for the lineart, I used 4-5 px. Ok, got it.

BTW, in Step 2, are all the steps to contract the outside area and to create the stroke done in the same "thing" layer? Cuz I'm having some trouble with this and I can't make it (some options that should be available aren't).

I see. Well, then you'll have to do it the old way;
Zoom in so much that you precisely can make a rectangular selection 1 pixel from the edge over the whole canvas, then contract by 39 to get the right result

OR

If you are familliar with guides and rulers, make four guides at desired pixels on each side to make the selection accurate.

oh, man, that's even more confusing (I still suck in PS, sorry)...

Are you sure CS2 doesn't work with your method? Because the same tools are there... The problem I have is that after selecting the white-filled "thing" layer, the "contract" tool is not available, only the "Border" one (I have PS in Spanish, but I guess that's the name in English). It seems more likely that I got something wrong, but I can't find what it is... BTW, this whole step 2 (contract and then the stroke) is done in the "thing" layer, right?

If you find this hard to clarify, we could meet in a chat or something (if you can, of course, I don't want to be a nuisance to you, on the other hand...)

I know, it's kind of confusing xD

But yes, I am sure; I've used cs2 earlier, and when selecting the entire canvas (ctrl+A) options like contracting and extending are unavailable. Which sucks.

But everything is done on the thing layer, yes.

Som det står (webcomicwise), blir sluttrestultatet 650px bredt, altså jobber jeg i 1300px bredde når jeg lager tegneserier som mine siste.

Selvfølgelig, tykke linjer gjelder for det meste kun for cartoony comics. I de fleste andre tegneserier finner man jo mye tynnere linjer.

jeg er usikker på hva jeg skal bruke i tegneserien.
har allerede begynt litt med litt tynnere konturer.
er usikker på hvordan fargeleggingen blir, eller om jeg i det hele tatt skal bruke farger.
du fikk det til å se så bra ut på en sånn enkel måte.

Jeg synes du skal holde deg til tynne linjer ja ^_^
Serien din er mer detaljert enn min da. Pluss at din er en lenger historie, som ofte gjerne har flere detaljer (slik som i manga), mens jeg satser på den mer enkle stilen.

ja, det er akkurat derfor jeg er usikker på fargebruken.
Det er jo flere som holder på med lange historier og likevel har god fargebruk.
for eksempel de seriene lager.

så urettferdig at alle andre får det til så mye bedre enn jeg :<

Hmm. Det ser ut til at =artsangel bare bruker enkel cell shading med paintede bakgrunner. Den er enkel og fin

The magic wand is an auto-selection tool that helps selecting only one area, for example the inside of a circle. It's a nice tool for the lazy-hearted, but as said in the tutorial, you'll most likely have to refine it after use.
