Dude these are seriously beast. I love your style and the fact that you blend all of the elements from the original Sonic levels and manage to put them in a 3Dish perspective while keeping them completely official to their original state in the game. Great work on all of these, man.

Wow. I really like this interpretation of Green Hill, and I especially like your design of Sonic and Robotnik; they definitely have the classic Sonic feel.

I cannot believe how well you create classic Sonic pieces! Please keep them coming!

why are you so goddamn fuckin awesome at drawing oldschool sonic

i wanna take a page or two outta your book for that coloring style... what do you call it? it always turns out well for pictures like these

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gsilverfish In reply to TcmSonic [2007-08-07 02:47:03 +0000 UTC]

I think layout and color selection are more important for capturing that certain Sonicky quality than the exact technique, but I guess it's a bit "painty?" I dunno what to call it! It's similar to what I do with paint (which I rarely use) but the technique applies to CG as well. I use a brush with a certain amount of opacity to it (and a tablet helps to control that opacity) to put down some colors, and then using smaller strokes I continually pick up (with a hot-keyed eyedropper tool) and put down those colors and gradually blend them together. Think of it as putting paint down and then pushing it around. So basically I start by picking two or three colors and then by working the area I end up with a sculpted 3D feel.
