This deviation will be soon one year old.
I like this piece a lot somehow, and so Ive decided to clean it up and retouch it.

So this is again a simple piece for asteroid-, ring- and suntraining
and it's always the same:
3ds-max for asteroids
photoshop for the rest
time taken: about 10 hours

Nice asteroids
The typography is really annoying, I hate it. It distracts from the beautiful picture itself.
I think you should also remove the smaller planet with nebula, or make it less prominent, for it also distracts a bit from the main focal point. But if you get rid of the typography, that may not be necessary.
Just trying to give some crits.

Been a while since a space scene nagged me to fav it.

Very cool, love the flare effect coming up over the horizon. Lighting looks great on the asteroids as well. I like how how you did the rings as well, very smooth-looking. Great stuff.

the black frame is a good idea indeed, as a very bright piece that is it, but that line between the piece inself and the dark look kinda odd... I would suggest you to remove that. you might want to do that just to see how it's going to look
i like very much of the rocky feeling over there
the flare is very nice, and the asteroids too
maybe you should work a bit more on the depth of your artwork. the nebula and the distant planet are gorgeous, really, but the rest looks almost on the same plane.
always face asteroids as depth & compositional helpers, and get away from the dirty look it's bad use will give to your piece.
