With the new Ghost In The Shell Paramount film coming out end of March, I was really excited (and fortunate!) to get an opportunity to create a paid work, just to show my own take on the theme of Identity in this franchise that I've long been a fan of.
This is the initial value sketch to setup the lighting and composition for the piece, let me know what you think!

Im reminded of this one scene in the trailer where she falls off the building. The shot is framed very symmetrically, where in the anime its at an odd angle. I think it would look way better if you used a skewed and uneven angle like that, with more dramatic lighting. The theme isn't harmony and equality between the identities. Maybe the human self (if thats what its supposed to be?) could be the one most lit up and in the background, like a sort of ideal, whereas robomajor could be the one cast in its shadow or something?
I'll try not to feel too bad about getting that symbolic for a movie/series like that :L

I think the shading and positioning is superb and I'm loving the dramatic lighting on her faces. I would personally prefer her hair a bit messier to err on the side of realism, but that's also a stylistic choice so it can work either way, depending on the look you're going for.

I notice artists like GUWIEZ can go crazy in the final stages and only keep things like the hair really simple in the beginning stages
