Follow me@:Β |Instagram |Tumblr | Twitter| Patreon|Hello guys! Here's Part 1 of a hair tutorial series I just did recently for my Patreon. (for free!)
I just wanted to show my gratitude to all of you for your support over the past 2 years. Hopefully this tutorial can shed some light on how I usually draw hair and what kind of thoughts I put into it.
I hope you find this useful, especially those who are still trying to get a grasp on drawing hair!
If you like what you see and would like to get more of it, please do consider supporting me on Patreon for more tutorials, processes and full-sized artwork!

PATREON LAUNCH!
Hello friends! I'm really having fun creating a whole bunch of tutorials and process guides to share with all of you. Your support has been so important to me on Deviantart over these years and I always feel bad for not being able to really interact with everyone too much other than just posting works. A lot of people have asked me for tutorials and tips on how to improve, but I felt like a few sentences usually isn't enough to carry over ideas well enough!
Now with in-depth tutorials on Patreon (~7 pages each!), I can really share my understanding and help those who need a bit of guidance in starting their journey in drawing. I'm not a master artist by any means, but I believe in my ability and I feel I am sufficiently advanced as an artist to offer advice to others!
Even though making content for all of you is fun, it really takes a lot of effort and time and I won't be able to do it without your support!

I'm sorry for the fav spam, these three connecting pieces just had to be set apart. (Mostly so I could find 'em again. )Β
Thank you so very much for the work you've done on these hair pages. You're quite easy to understand and your drawings are great for the examples.Β

Damn you! Now I'm gonna have to back you to keep learning your secrets. You you by any chance mention your brush settings? That's generally where I have trouble

I do mention brush settings whenever it's relevant in my tutorials, e.g. when I try to achieve a particular look, etc. For this one I didn't touch on that because it's kind of a technical tutorial!

Yeah, a lot of details I can do myself, but a few touches that folks like you, Kuvshinov-Ilya and Koyorin seem to have the secrets that I feel I can learn from. Especially that grainy feel you all seem to have a fetish forΒ

It's teh way you do hair is why I have become a big fan since I found your art recently, and why I now back you on Patreon. If I can learn to piant even a quarter as good as your work I'd be happy (cause I suck as it is now)

At least someone who start by "Visualize: Know what you want to draw". It can seems kinda obvious but seriously, that's the real first step indeed. ^^

I find it to be one of the most important steps!

RenOokami In reply to GUWEIZ [2015-12-13 06:28:22 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it is ! But you'd be surprized by the amount of beginners who feel hopeless and believe they have no talent, while their main problem just is that they rush without taking time to visualize what they want to draw before they start random scketches.. ^^"
