Just logged on to find a recieved a DD?! So excited. Thank you for all the comments and attention.
I noticed a few comments asking 'what its about'...I may have missed my window of attention, but I'm going to add this anyway.
This painting is about holding on when the love in your life has stopped. It's about that moment, when you realize, you are being left to dangle alone, grasping onto someone who isn't grasping back. The other person, is in fact, resisting your attempts to hold on...and you know you have to let go, but when you do, you know there is something dark and dreadful waiting below. You will probably survive the fall, but you will be changed forever by the impact. It is so. hard. to. let. go.

The fist is not helping her. She can dangle alone, without help, or she can let go and fall into whatever the dark holds below.

Should this symbolize a wife/girlfriend who's not able to get away from her violent man? Because the hand seems to belong to a man and isn't holding her but clenched to a fist. And she wouldn't let go until she falls and destroyes herself because she stayed with him.
Or am I interpreting to much?

I truly enjoy hearing what people see when they look at my (or any) paintings. Often tells me something about what they have gone through in their own lives.
That said, if there was a third sex, neither man or woman, I'd paint that 'person' as the subject of all my paintings. This painting is about anyone, man or woman, who is holding on when their partner has stopped. It's about that moment, when you realize, you are being left to dangle alone, grasping onto someone who isn't grasping back. It isn't so much about physical violence as it is about emotional violence.
