Letting go of the fist

...
Just logged on to find a recieved a DD?! So excited. Thank you for all the comments and attention.
I noticed a few comments asking 'what its about'...I may have missed my window of attention, but I'm going to add this anyway.

This painting is about holding on when the love in your life has stopped. It's about that moment, when you realize, you are being left to dangle alone, grasping onto someone who isn't grasping back. The other person, is in fact, resisting your attempts to hold on...and you know you have to let go, but when you do, you know there is something dark and dreadful waiting below. You will probably survive the fall, but you will be changed forever by the impact. It is so. hard. to. let. go.

Wow, this is touching! You depicted her expression very well! c:

It reminds me a little of the novel "Boot Camp" by Morton Rhue.. it was filmed and the main character was also a brown-haired girl.. and there was a scene where she was prisoned in a well, in despair and all.. yeah it was really similar x3
(But I like your picture more than the movie.. it wasn't that good :'D)

Yeah, but I also like Light, even though his actions are deadly. For some reason I just find myself sort of rooting for Kira because his aspirations are noble ones. But I think he's doing it the wrong way. It reminds me of the movie 'Boondock Saints' a little.

one of mine too, have heaps of his books, recently saw one his works of Helga in Madrid, tempera, the surface was like porcelain and the detail in the plaited hair was to die for. He definetly broke all the rules as far as composition.

I was wondering what the 'finish' of egg-tempura would look like...I also wondered if that finish would fissure after a hundred years or so...

I have seen work at the Uffizi in Florence from the Early Renaissance period before oils, particularly alterpieces and the surface was perfect, no crazing, a lot were painted on timber panels, its a beautiful medium but painstakingly slow as it dries quickly (lots of small strokes) and if you dont get mix of egg right, it will crack ( I found that out the hard way).
