The scraping of chairs on floor and the hubbub of low voices announced the end of another day for Class 206 at Somno High. The students gradually moved into a pattern of conversation and preparation for the evening ahead, even as they got supplies together to clean to room before departing.

For one student, though, there was no sense of urgency to leave, and his mind was firmly elsewhere.
