Hiro sighed to himself, his gaze transfixed on the back of the girl in front of him. Her black ponytail swayed ever-so-slightly between her shoulders with each gentle movement of her head, yet she hardly moved at all, seemed in no hurry to leave the classroom. It was hypnotic in a way, but also made Hiro feel an ache in his stomach that he both wished would leave and clung to out of a sense of earnest guilt.

Only a week had passed since that fateful day, where Hiro had found Asagi lying unconscious and alone in this very classroom. Hiro had almost - almost - taken complete advantage of the situation, but had veered off at the last minute and ultimately left Asagi there to avoid suspicion. Since that night, he had not been able to get his mind off of her, and her absence from school only made the situation worse. Today was her first day back in class since then, and she had been quiet, subdued and had not once looked in his direction. Hiro wondered how much she knew; the terror of that unknown joined the turmoil of feelings that had run through since she had walked in that day, feelings of longing, frustration, a tiny nagging lust and, ultimately, self-loathing.
