Description
The Goddess of the night sits high atop her heavenly perch far from the solid ground of the fledgling earth, moments away from beginning the long process of giving birth to the first star.......After her long labor the Goddess's purpose will not be fulfilled, the world is young and the sky is bare of life. Therefore after giving birth she shall seek out one of her many divine - or perhaps not so divine - suitors and conceive another child. All of this falls upon the new moon and once the new moon comes again the Night Goddess shall bare another child and restart the cycle anew until the heavens are filled with her fair haired children...

[ 100 Theme challenge: #32 Night ]
FYI the lunar cycle runs new moon to new moon (known as a "lunation"). Aside from that this gal is superwoman for all I care, going and shacking up with some other god or titan monster immediately after pushing one out? No thank you!
Only a Goddess can pull a feat like this off. D8>
Anyhow the mistakes are likely glaring and I wish now more than ever I had used a circle template. I've learned my lesson! But I'm tired of working on this and I can't fix it now. I think it turned out decent in the end anyhow despite things that bug me about it. If anything I can try and fix this up a bit if I get a free moment which is hard to come by now that school is back in. D=

Thank you! She's an oldy but a goodie. I should revisit her some day and bring new life into her.

I have to say the colors and the softness of the fabric look wonderful! This is a really nicely done drawing that definitely fits the theme.

The coloring is quite lovely as well as her facial expression. She looks so sad. Beautiful composition overall.

In birth, there are no 'erfect circles' in childbirth--not mommys tummy, not the baby's head--nada, so I found the 'imperfections' something that made this all the more interesting to me. I love how you give things a night like sheen, and the colors blend stunningly. Its an excellent piece.

i really like the composition of this piece and the colors used... a circle tool may have helped but i think i like it more abstract this way

I agree. Of course after I made the pic is when I find out they make circle templates. -__- Of course. Ah well, least i don't have to run around the house and find something circular to try - and fail I might add - and trace.
Anyhow thanks for being kind about my horrid circle drawing skills!

Amazing, as is always the case with you. The color of her skin and the sky look similar, but yet seem worlds apart. I like how it contrasts subtly. And the border just stands out beautifully. The little moons and the stars look really good.
Looks like it was a little challenge. Love it <3
