Description Argh... OK... let's try this again. The first time I uploaded this DA was being stupid...

This was put together for someone in the forums who was curious how to do a reflection from just a base image and using PSP filters and stuff. I thought I would have a go at it myself and it was kinda cool so I will post it here and hopefully it will be useful. Thanks to Patrick at Epilogue for inspiring me with the Motion Blur technique. The rest... just whatever occured to me at the time!

NOTE: this image is not my own... just a random photo of a mountain I found on my hard drive. It is being used for the purposes of demonstration only.

2nd NOTE: This tute assumes you have PSP8. You can probably do all this stuff in earlier versions (7 for sure) but the various commands are not necessarily in the same menus.

I'm having a bit of a problem. When I paste it into a new layer and I click on image don't know what to click next. I can't find anything that says flip to invert. I have photoshop 7 and currently stuck at the moment. Can you help me?

Yeah... DA was being a bit silly. Glad you think it might be useful! It occurred to me as I was doing it that it would work equally well if you need to do something similar in a painting. Water, or a reflective floor, or something like that. The only thing you have to watch out for is perspective.

thanx, this helps a lot. I agree, DA tends to mess up a lot. There are tons of pics i just cant view for some reason, and they also need a new server, this one is extremely slow and half the time i cant even get on to DA because of all the traffic.

I like tutorials.... great way of learning!!! You can always adapt it to your own software...

I've got an idea for another one actually... someone else was curious how to make images blend into one another, like when you do photo manip or blend different artworks together to make graphics for websites. It's one of the things I didn't know how to do when I started out, and wondered, and only figured out by a lot of trial and error.

Could be very interesting!
I sure will read it.
Sometimes trial and errors are the only ways things will be remember...

Heh... yeah... that's true... which is why I really encourage people to just go ahead and play with programs... it really is the best way to learn what things do. But sometimes first off things can be intimidating and it is nice also to sometimes have that little shove in the right direction for a particular technique when you just want to know how to do *that* right now.

yes.... you got the need to try in seeing the tutorials , then you do trial and errors as you try to remember what it said few months later....LOL

I think the loading problem is DA, not your pic - I've been having trouble viewing other pictures too... But I'm looking forward to checking this out once it's visible (I need serious photoshop pointers)

Yeah... I hope so... it shows up as a small thumb in my gallery, so it must be in there somewhere... *sigh* prolly just DA being dumb again...
