Description This is the RI cover of Issue #1 of Drift: Empire of Stone, done by Guido Guidi, Art God Extraordinaire. tfwiki.net/wiki/File:DriftEOS1…
It is leet and sauce and I love it EVERSO. Favorite thing about the whole darn series. Had to color it.

I tried to make two red and white bots be slightly different flavors of red and white. Drift's supposed to be shinier and newer-looking, while Ol' Ratch is s'posed-ta be grungier and more faded. I had a lot of fighting with my markers over this attempt, and am not certain I got it perfect. But it sure was fun to try.

Prismacolor markers on white cardstock.

I praise your effort, I think you did a stellar job once again. Drift and Ratchet look great and, like others have said, the laser beams are awesome. One suggestion I have is maybe using a white pigment ink gel pen, like the Uni-ball Signo pens, to at some "shiny areas" or specular highlights to Drift to make him look even more new and shiny looking. Otherwise, great work once again. Your colours really compliment Guido's lineart ^^

OH YEAH! I knew there was something else I was going to do! As I scanned it in, I was trying to remember, but brain said nuthin. (I only really get to do art once a week, because real life; so I was scanning this in a day or so after last working on it.)
I think I'll do that, and rescan and repost this. Thanks for reminding me!

I hate when that happens... especially for me when I'm working on longer pieces or life gets in the way working on a project. Can't wait to see the update

Well, I put more white on, but it doesn't show up well. I think it's improved a little bit, though. Overall, I'm happy. When my biggest problems are with the background, I can't complain too much!
Thanks, as always, for your thoughtful input, and the time you take to make it! Having another artist's eyes is ALWAYS a huge help!

What kind of white ink did you use? I experimented with a couple of different white gel pens before I found one that worked well. The best one that I found, and is readily available, is the Mitsubishi Pencil Co. Uni-ball Signo series with Pigment White ink. Sometimes it does take a few applications before I can get a crisp white line though. You should be proud anyway, because it still looks great as it is!

No thanks needed. You always do the same for me

I was using a plain old Gelly Roll pen. But it's the easiest-to-use one I've found so far. But I think the biggest issue is that I'm skeert to do those big bright white lines and squiggles like Alex Milne uses. So I just highlighted the bits I wanted to make brighter.......... *shrug*

YEAH! I've tried to emulate what Milne does with the white pens but failed miserably... >_<

OMP PRETTY LAZ0RZ!!!one1
Not gonna lie, I love this purely because it is So Very Retro and I Hearts Eet

You totes pulled off the shiny red / warm grey contrast, I can see that Drift is all new and shiny while Ratchet has already been through a few battles

I also heart the retro. Guido is THE MAN. I'm just glad I didn't wreck it!

I think the variations in red are noticeable and work well here! and I agree with Joe on the laser beams! very nice! the  markers really match well with guido's style here. It's all very retro looking, which is awesome! very well done!!

Those laser beams look awesome!
You did a great job and the bots came out really well. It's always tricky colouring white bots.
