Description
Thank You GuidoGuidi for allowing me to color this!!Original lineart: guidoguidi.deviantart.com/art/…
Published colors by Joana Lafuente: khaamar.deviantart.com/art/Inf…
I had a super fun time coloring this. It took forever, as always, but I'm proud of how it turned out. It's very different from Joana's, as you can see -- I wasn't able to make the headlight or the underwater effects as successfully as she did. But what I did do that I like, was to have a lot of fun with coloring. I love the bronze I put on Prime -- I really think it works for his character. And I also like how putting a little dark green colored pencil over the solid black tentacles helps work them into the rest of the picture. I'm never able to get as dark of darks or as much contrast in markers/colored pencils as people can with digital coloring, but I do like some of the things I can do -- things like textured paper and the like -- and I tried to put them to good use here.
Things I wish I could have done better:
Make that goo more livid. It especially gets lost on Prime. I actually put some green pencil on the outlines of the goo on him, so it would be both pinkish-orange and green, but it's still not what I'd like it to be. I also tried for a smear effect on Prime's arm that got blown out a bit in the scan, and isn't quite working either.
The Infestation books are never quite as awesome as their covers, IMO. BUt dangitall, this cover was amazing!!! Again, eternal gratitude to Guido for letting me color this! Your art, Sir, is tip-top-notch quality.
Colored on textured green cardstock with Prismacolor markers, and layered over where needed with colored pencil.

Wow, it's hard to top Razzie (as per usual), but I'll give you props in for a truly squamous, gellid, blasphemous, livid coloring job of indescribable awesomeness.

*looks up Lovecraft words finally, because they never mean what I think they mean*
Huh. Gelid means icy? Squamous means scaly-layered?
That man. James Roberts would slink away in shame.
I know -- we should frame Razzie's comments for posterity, eh? I was so happy when this started coming together. So fun. So oogie. All the slime.
(Didn't Prime turn out PRETTY? I was vereh, vereh happy with his bronzy bits.)

You owe me a new kneecap, I just squee-flobble-jiggled and broke this one by cracking it into the desk
Dude.
DUDE SERIOUSLY
I am doubly ashamed by this drawing.
Firstly because I was not in the slightest aware of its existence
Secondly because for all these years I assumed falling out of a plane in trukkmoad and going robuttmoad on Demolishor's face at the beginning of ROTF was your finest moment of badassery... it clearly wasn't
This needs to be a T shirt. It must be painted onto the side of LAX Airport in the Summer. The National Portrait Gallery requires infinite copies to be distributed to all the bored schoolchildren who pass through its doors
In the meantime, I must ask Ratchet if he has a spare knee joint in my size
and let's not forget the bonus points for gold leaf embellishment of the crotchplate

GOOLD LEEF EMBELUSHMUNTTT
Razzie, ilusohardd.
There was a whole two-issue crossover comic called Infestation 2 which was Prime vs the Old Ones. I saw this cover for it and LOST MY SQUEEM, because, dang.
And then, sadly, the interior of the comic did not live up to what I had imagined by that time in my own head, because I ask you, What Could Have? It's probably quite awesome. But I was tainted by epic imaginationitis.

Hahahahaaa I remember the old 80s comics used to do that in the days of monochrome printing. You'd go to the newsagents after school (Englanders did not understand this "Comic Shop" thing the Americans had) and buy the one with the most amazingest full-colour cover... to discover the contents were about the same quality as re-photocopied textbooks from three years ago
Pffffhahahahaaa I even remember when newspapers started going full colour, there were little LOOKIT HOW SHINY I AM notices on the covers

Absolutely, apocalyptically magnificent. 8D The best part, of course, is that you can't know which one will come out the victor of this battle. Even if Prime does succeed, the scars the Old Ones leave are usually much deeper and more long-lasting than the average dent or scuff.
Glory, that'd be a terrifying encounter. Optimus Prime himself bellowing, "IA! IA! CTHULHU F'TAGHN!"
Personally, I'd probably die of a heart attack on the spot.

. . . My twisted, sadistic side is intrigued at the thought of a fic depicting a converted Prime descending upon his former troops in a zealous fury for the glory of the Old Ones.
thank you for the praise tho
