Description
EDIT:Darkened shadow side of white parts and increased their color saturation (purple shadow, orange light-bleed)
Older version will be moved to scraps.

This is 's epic preview pic [link] that goes along with an epic TF Mosaic [link]
and is basically just that slagging cool.
Thank you, Sir, for allowing me to color it!
As always, please forgive the scanner issues. Especially that fire!orange colored pencil in the sky. It totally blended(tm) in the real thing!
That being said...
REJOICE WITH ME in one or two other things.
LOOK AT THE 'BLACK'!!! It's Really Blue and Purple, But It Reads!
LOOK AT THOSE ORANGE HIGHLIGHTS!
Look at the COLORS!! (And pretend the scanner didn't eat them)
I learned A LOT in coloring this. I hope the things I learned can carry over now into future projects.
Thank you. That is all.
Prismacolor markers on white cardstock, with a smear of orange colored pencil along the sky there which is painfully obvious here.

Prime, when I first saw this, years ago, I went and read the Mosaic and was then so upset that I couldn't even come back here and comment. Β That has actually happened MULTIPLE times. Β Like three times. Β I just want you to know that I have seen this and love it, even if I'm not coherent enough to give you actual commentary on it because of the story associated with it. Β

!!! Yeah, this was a tough Mosaic. I still really like the art, though. Often, the bits of Mosaics I color become things unto themselves in my head, and I forget the original source story!

That's good, it allows you to enjoy it properly then, without becoming traumatized. Β I should try to do the same!

OMP I love that sky. If the scanner ate it, I can't imagine how awesome it must be in Real Life.

Hee hee thanks pal. Occasionally, I branch out. You know, just to keep people guessing.
But I did think this was a very cool picture, and I was really happy to get to work on it. And I learned A TON...

Wow, I'm honestly surprised there have been no comments on this yet. The coloring is gorgeous, and I can tell you made good use of the new techniques you learned. I adore the orange reflected lighting and the cool/warm contrast especially. The graduation in the sky is a little rough, but that's just part of the medium and can actually work in its favor, considering the city is burning up.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments.
I think the reason for the lack of feedback is that this is the second version of this piece, and so a lot of people left comments on that first one. (But this one is better )
Your own color work is very good, so I appreciate what you've said.
I was so happy with how this turned out, but even more with what I learned. I've 'known' about warm/cool forever, but this is the first time I've really been able to make it WORK.
Cheers, pal.
