Description Boo-yah. This one came together much more quickly than the last one did. I am an absolute SLAVE to that old poster, graphic, flat art style, and I loved it in this cover of Casey Coller's (Caliber316 ) You can see this lineart in his gallery here: caliber316.deviantart.com/art/…
I am so grateful that he lets me marker-up his art! I can never do it justice, but boy, is it fun to try!

I love the red of that sky. I tried to keep the colors on the bots simple, and in keeping with the geometricality of the piece. So no reflections of other shenanigans. I used a very warm color for the white -- a peachy-orange, actually, to place them in underneath that sky. The scan washed it out, but hopefully they still feel of a piece.

Still having fun with markers; still perennially wishing to do better.

I love the white-not-whites. That really matches the two scrapheaps Also, the poster-like effect.

I love the MTMTE art style because it has an awesome 80s line art vibe with plenty of detail to drool over
The only tiny little crit I have for this is that there's just a touch too much red. Either Chromedome needs a more yellow-orange, or the red sky needs to be less intense although i understand that your scanner hates you and eats your delicious colours at random

You get 2½ bonus points for the word "geometricality" because it sounds like you made it up to sound cool... yet it also sounds like a real honest-to-goodness word

I agree about the red issue. I actually had to fight with my markers on this one. I yellowed up Chromedome all I could, but value- and hue-wise he's definitely sinkin' into that background. I thought about altering the red, but I just couldn't make myself do it -- not even a gradient or anything. I was so determined to make this as flat as I could possibly make it. We Won't Be Having Any Realism Here, No-Sir!!

I really like the simplistic colors for this one. It works well with the background! Fantastic job m'dear!

Nice!  Casey's got mad design skills and I think the red is a good choice to highlight that.  'Domey's good, although his red chest is getting a bit lost against the background, but I know you're stuck using the robot colors chosen by the original artist(s).  Prowl is AWESOME.  Especially his eyes and I think the warmer white works really well on both of them.  Well done, my Boss.

Yeah, I had a lot of trouble getting Chromedome to stand out. But I refused to change the red, because it just felt PERFECT and I couldn't do it. I used a different red on CD & P's red bits than the bg one.
Next up: Kup & Springer  caliber316.deviantart.com/art/… Any suggestions? I'm thinking (planning, hoping...) simple shading, with firelight and colored pencil embers floating over top...

Well, it's very gritty, so I think you may want to reflect that with some char or laser scoring on the guys.  I think embers are a good idea and base your light low and shining up on their faces as if something in the low foreground is on fire and providing the illumination.  I'm sure you'll do great.  Have fun.
