Is...is this a job for human rights activists or for PETA?Okay, this is something that has bothered me for years, and in all sorts of medium.
So I'm furnishing my little Animal Crossing cottage, right? But I don't know if I'm comfortable with keeping a caged canary (which is a furniture item) in the window when my next-door neighbor is a talking, four-foot-tall robin.
It's the same thing in what was one of my favorite childrens's show, Arthur , too. He's got a little pet dog, but one of his best friends is also a dog. And it happens again with Goofy and Pluto of the Disney universe; both are dogs, but they live in different castes of domestic hierarchy. What is this?
And when you encounter this sort of thing at such a young age, it's...I don't know, it's just crippling.

In my head canon, some animals are born as anthropomorphic (like Goofy), and some animals are born as non-anthropomorphic (like Pluto). And then I don't think too much about it because if I do, my head will explode.

It is not slavery, it WOULD be if it was one of those sentient dogs. But you are walking a nontalking, nonsentient, unthinking dog, and it is perfectly all right. Animal Crossing Dogs, your arguments are invalid.

Same thing in Arthur. (Wow, right?) This dude's an aardvark, with about five other friends who are dogs, and HE has a pet dog. (Don't ask why I know. I just do.)

It's really cartoon law, if an animal has clothing then it means they are more human then any of the other animals that are NOT waring clothing....it's a very stupid law I have to say. It rly doesn't make any difference. Unless the anthro world has ether made up animals to fill in for the real animals or there are no other animals mentioned.........its still a stupid law.

Always though about it in an evolutionary way, with regular naimals being lower forms, while talking ones are further evolved. You know, like with Apes compared to lemurs.

I always thought the "normal" animals were to the anthro ones as monkeys were to us. There are ones that talk and use clothing and such, and there are ones that are lower on the evolutionary chain that don't have enough intellegence to.

ya i always wondered y goofy got to live it up while pluto was a normal dog. But if you have ever read the book or seen the musical wicked they kinda have an explination u see there are animals and Animals the first being the normal animals like in our world and the later being able to speak have a job and wear clothes.

I think they aknowledge the CONCEPT of pets, but I doubt they FEAR it due to their knowledge of their higher status. After all, Goldie has a crush on the lab on the cover of "Nintendogs" according to her picture quote.

I haven't read SONIC since #134 or 135,but I recall he has a dog named MUTTSKI, robotized at the very start and only became flesh & blood & bone again about #120 or so. There were dog characters who were Freedom Fighters and Muttski was a 4-legged woof-woof.

In this one anthro webcomic I read, the characters are all furries, but there's also "livestock", which are normal animals, and thus there are hamburgers.
Which are the demon cow girl's favorite food. Go figure.

Im faving this cartoon not because i particularly think it was funny but because of the very true and interesting dialoug you left in the caption. I totaly agree with you. Sort of like the large coolaid guy going around with a smaller pitcher of coolaid that is not sentient. Would you drink from both?
