Self-portrait week 6 of 52.In a floral dress.
So I enter production week for my new show. I feel surprisingly good! I think it is good. I really do. I think it is worthy of being seen. I think it has something to say and says it eloquently. I think the set will be ready...
If you are in Melbourne, there are preview shows Tuesday and Wednesday Night at 7pm in the VCA drama building. Entry is by donation (to the Vic show, that is). If you are in Adelaide, it opens on Saturday the 20th and runs to the 25th. Booking are through the Fringe website: [link]
It would be fantastic to see you there! I'll be at all the shows (operating lights) so do come up and say hello. I'm much less intimidating and much scruffier than photos make me look.
In other news, I was hypnotised two days ago and have slept solidly without drugs ever since! I cannot say how amazing the world looks! I can't remember when I last slept multiple nights in a row. Money still had me in tears yesterday but I have two grant applications in the works as well as job applications so hopefully things will get better soon.
I think that is my week well summed up...

This is a very moving picture, lets start by the breakdown of the set wich is great. the house or room this was shot in gives thislate 40's early 50's vibe, the over all apperiance of this room gives a poor deprit feel to the picture wich hightens any emotions from the model, the model her self is great you can just picture her seeing something that will some how change her life, the caption on her face still doesnt betray if its a good or bad suprise wich is great, this picture really puts all these elements together to great this rich story

Love the dress and the pose, and this is awesome in black and white. Very classic feel, like a melodramatic 1940s film. I like it.

Thanks! The dress came from a theatre school's costume sale. It is pretty filthy and is falling apart (like all my clothing actually) but I love it.

this photo makes me think of early 1900s horror films, like you'd be possessed or a flock of birds would come swooping down. it has a really nice, eerie feel to it.

Hypnotism = not nearly as scary as films and tv would have us think. I was conscious the whole time and, as the guy said to me, 'if a brick came through the window, you'd be out of here before I would'. I remember everything.

Honestly I am not really a fan of plays, but I have been keeping up to date on your self-portraits and your journals, and I am so curious to see this creation of yours. I am putting it in my calender and bringing some friends to see your play for sure!

Rad! Well, it is only 45 minutes long, so if you don't enjoy it, it will be over soon. I am a great believer in short theatre. If you can't say everything in under an hour, you need to re-think what you're trying to say. Come and introduce yourself after the show!
