Description I hope this helps you get started if you're having trouble with volumetric lights. Click the download link on the right. It is a zip file. Within it are several sample parameters in a parameter folder, images and an html file. You have to unzip this file or the images in the tutorial will not display. Once you have it unzipped, click on VL Tutorial.html, and it should open in your default browser. Please fave this if you download it, it's such a little thing to ask to show you appreciate me taking the time to do it. Good luck!

PS: I forgot to mention that bib993 has posted a VL tutorial at this [link] as well.

Is it HS option in lighting?
I still dont get the sharp shadows like in 3d program...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

HalTenny In reply to snupi988 [2013-10-16 12:17:14 +0000 UTC]

To get good hard shadows you need to activate them. Near the top right of the main preview window is a button labeled Postprocess. Clicking that opens another window, select hard shadows. There you can select which light to cast hard shadows and a few other settings. And yes, HS should be selected in the light panel as well... Hard shadows has nothing to do with volumetric lights though, or rather no impact. You can get VL without using hard shadows.

oh thank i still could not figure out how they work this will help

BTW

i also have trouble with the positional light :
as example if i try to change position using the sliders ...the sliders just revert instantly to the initial position ... always !! ) maybe you know how to move those sliders in a way they remain in the new position ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HalTenny In reply to PhotoComix2 [2013-06-25 18:18:03 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. As far as I know, they will always return to the center position as you have seen. It does make it difficult to remember which way you have moved them, but if you make the light visible as you adjust the position, it helps.

haven't had much of a play around with VL yet, mainly due to me not understanding the settings properly and it taking a crazy amount of time to calculate. I'm gonna go have a play now though. Cheers Hal
