Description Allllllrighty... CHEESSECAKE TUTORIAL!

Yes, it's late... meh. xD I've been busy (for once) and just haven't had the time to format and put everything together.

As always, sorry for the watermark and things. I can stop doing that when people become honest and stop stealing. =_=

Also, please don't make them for commercial purposes without my consent because that's just mean. T^T Lastly, the finished deviation will be posted later... plate and all! But, have a try at it yourself first!

Please do not take the image without my consent. Just email me, it's easy! ^____^ b

Lol I can make bags and cussions xD but that's it..
You make those at home?

Anyway about the clay, you have to bake
them right? ^^

HanaClayWorks In reply to Ice-Pandora [2007-11-03 02:24:07 +0000 UTC]

yes, i do make those at home. ^_^ and yes, you do have to bake the clay (well, the type that i use). there is also air-dry clay where you don't have to bake it, but i've never tried it. xD

this is so cute!
thanks so much for the tutorial.
my first clay creations are actually in the oven right now

my question:
what is TLS? is it the same thing as liquid fimo/sculpey?
also, can you use red food dye to dye TLS?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HanaClayWorks In reply to flo-ora [2007-10-23 01:08:27 +0000 UTC]

TLS actually stand for translucent liquid sculpey ^_^

usually, with clay, you don't want to add anything with water in it or else it'll bubble when you bake it. it's the same idea behind never baking your clay once you've painted it with acrylics (oil paints are OK) since acrylics are water-based. water tends to form steam, steam must escape, and if it's at the center of your piece, it'll crack and bubble through.

one thing i dont get, wht surface do you use to bake it on? Because the TLC needs to be poured somewhere, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HanaClayWorks In reply to SunneyTehBunney [2007-10-10 16:11:48 +0000 UTC]

*nod* that's why it's best to put it on whatever it is that you want to put into the oven first, before pouring the TLS onto the cheesecake. i work on a ceramic tile, so when i do make the cheesecake, i just stick the whole thing into the oven to bake it. that way, i won't have to worry about smudging anything since i don't have to transfer it.

And then the sauce 'eels' off after it's baked?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HanaClayWorks In reply to SarahRose [2007-11-07 21:58:20 +0000 UTC]

it'll peel off of the pan once it's baked, but not off of the cheesecake itself.

This is great! Even though I might not make this, there are allot of techniques that I'd never thought of. Like putting your clay in the freezer. *smacks forhead* Do you have any idea how many time's I've made cane-beads, and when it comes to slicing the cane, the colors smear, and the cane gets flatter and flatter? Using a toothbrush for texturing is a good idea, too. Anyways.... lol.

HanaClayWorks In reply to nothing-but-a-dream [2007-09-26 14:24:14 +0000 UTC]

oh trust me... i've gone through many MANY pieces of clay where it just flattens like a bad souffle when i try to cut it, so you're not alone! xP

nothing-but-a-dream In reply to HanaClayWorks [2007-09-26 17:49:23 +0000 UTC]

lol. Oh, I have two questions: How do you keep your fingerprints from getting all over everything? and Is there a way to keep the clay from getting squished into your finger prints and palms? I think my hands may be stained red permanently... lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SunneyTehBunney In reply to nothing-but-a-dream [2007-10-10 10:31:09 +0000 UTC]

If you play with it for too long, it gets really warm, and softer, so it's squishier.

One thing thats helpful in removing fingerprints is getting your finger wet and wiping the item, you can use a tissue for that also. I recommend those boxed tissues, because the material has no pattern on it, it's smooth, so it'll work best.

HanaClayWorks In reply to Ajagee24701 [2007-08-18 03:35:32 +0000 UTC]

TLS can't be made... it needs to be bought. it's actually a Sculpey product. Check my FAQ for more information - the link is in my siggy.
