Description
Another shot from our trip to the school. Here you see an Army sergeant packing up some toys for the children at the school. This sergeant belongs to a convoy escort section in my unit, so I thought that it was fitting to reflect him in the mirror of one of his Humvees. Took me forever to line this one up properly and not have me in the picture with him. I often get yelled at by the people I'm taking pictures of for being too artistic with my shots and not getting wider pictures of the events showing the 'whole thing.'Related content

if only the news would show stuff like this. but no they always portray the negative stuff. they rarely show how we're helping them. oh well.

Iraqi media is always out at these events doing stories. Turn on a TV in Iraq, and you can get a pretty healthy balance of things if you watched enough channels. Western media is run by the almighty $, so you only get stuff that brings in the viewers. Remember, the citizens choose what's on the news, not the other way around ...

i can imagine why they would object, but the point is to capture what you see. Too bad they cant see the true art behind what your doing, and showing what you guys gotta go through, american or iraqi. those are some nice shots man.

This is the wonderful world of military photography that I live in ... But that's ok... I've learned to get the shots that the boss wants and then get the shots that I use for my magazine layouts and submit with my press releases...
