Description One of many (fan!) vehicle concepts I did for Planetside. Note that this concept makes use of in game renders of the Empire Specific (ES) Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), respectively the Vanguard, Prowler as well as the Skyguard. Again of course, it isn't official concept art.

This then depicts the Warpath Heavy Tank. A 4 men heavy tank which is comparable to the Mammoth Tank in Command & Conquer. It is as wide as a Vanguard, high as a Prowler and long as a Magrider, meaning this would be the heaviest in game vehicle available.

Its weaponry array consists of three weapon systems, the Dual 100mm Anti-Tank cannons are the same as those on the Prowler, which means it is capable of killing infantry in a single shot. The second gunner controls a Flak weapon similar to the Skyguard, but with limited range so it can only be used for defensive purposes. It should suffice to keep smaller aircav (Mosquito/Reaver) at bay while supporting infantry. It would most likely be an interesting target for Vulture divebombers however.

The 15 mm machine gun the third gunner controls is also taken from the Prowler, but can only aim forward much like a Bassilisk's guns. The reason for this is that this really is the third gun on this vehicle and is more a gun for a passenger than it is required to operate the vehicle.

The increased amount of occupants should offer more protection than other tanks. Therefore the armour is considerably larer than the MBTs, but not to such an extend that a skilled MBT crew can't win a battle. One should think of roughly 1.5 times the armour of a Vanguard. It then is a heavy alternative giving you a significant edge, but it would not altogether obsolete other tanks.

Its high profile and low speed should compensate for its increased armour and firepower. From a gameplay perspective it is designed to be the most vulnerable in the rear, giving lighter vehicles a chance to outmanoeuvre it.

To obtain a Warpath, one would require a link to a Tech Plant or get it from Sanctuary. Note that I'd consider dropping the requirement for Tech Plant for MBTs to encourage invading through other base types more.

Now this would be one fun vehicle to use. Would be cool to see it put into the new PlanetSide.

As long as it fits into the new game of course. Still got little idea on how they're going to adapt the current gameplay to the next. They may choose to use entirely different concepts for tanks, though I'm betting they'll have 'new' versions of ES equipment if it's anything like the old.

OOH this is for a game. At first I thought it was Warpath, the Autobot.
Still, it looks really cool.

He did inspire the name actually. It's just too awesome a name for a tank.
