I think deviantART should give to users the ability to remove their own comments, as well as other comments on their profile, deviations, groups they manage and such by the following reasons:- Annoying spam walls
- Being trolled or harassed online by what you write
- "Thanks for the fav" stuff. Some people just don't like their profiles to be full of them
- People falling for old comments
- etc..
Facebook has that ability, deviantART should have it too. The only thing I would add is that removed comments should keep "visible" to deviantART admins in the case the person is posting spam or abusive comments so that they can take action.
Don't forget you can use stamps even if you don't have a dA subscription -----------------> [link]

This is like, the most important thing.
Especially for people who unfortunately made a stupid comment and wants to just get rid of it, but can't unless he asks the artist. There's literally no damage control that way. None. Zilch.

They actually had it once I remember having to delete several of my comments because it accidently got sent 4 times. Now, I don't know. They should add it I completely agree.

Why hasn't deviantART implemented this yet, after so long?
They should realize how embarassing it is when you made a horrible mistake (typos and all) in your comment. It's kind of frustrating when you take too long to preview your comments just to make sure you don't say anything wrong before posting.

I agree with this. I made a comment on a deviation months ago. If I knew people would bother me or tell me I'm uninformed and stupid, I never would've made the comment. I did the only thing I could do and stopped replying to them.

I agree. I've seen furry artists who totally didn't deserve it getting attacked by the (now banned) cyberabuse group on DA so much that it totally ruined their art comments section.

I strongly disagree with this, because there will be abuses of this function, especially to remove a comment that doesn't agree or share with the deviant's point of view.

Everything can have a bad effect in some sense: the reporting system, etc. But hey, if you remove your comments you might manage a little more what you post in dA.

Regarding concerns of people deleting arguments/art thieves deleting accusations, etc...
Maybe they could limit how many times you could edit or delete a comment a day?

They've put limits on how many people you can block and a certain period of time you can unblock/re-block them; I'm sure they'll put some sort of limit on deleting comments- should they give it a try.

Then you could debunk somebody's bad argument, and rather than defend their position, they can just smugly delete your comment. No thanks.

Thanks very much. The people that remove constructive comments or arguments would be a problem, every function can be overused...a little (like the "flag as spam" button, the block feature), but it depends how people take some of them.
