Description "You really piss me off, Jim. Human life is too precious to go risking on crazy stunts!”

"Even as I fell, I knew I wouldn't die."

"Oh? I thought he was the only one who was immortal."

"I knew I wouldn’t die because the two of you were with me.”

-Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

I love the camping scenes. I can't help myself. This whole movie is "camp", though - maybe that's why I can't quite bring myself to hate it.

Sorry about the Trek spam. I promise I'll upload something more universally interesting next time! Pencil, colored with photoshop (which is a real pain without a tablet, I've discovered!).

I don't own the characters, show, etc. Really. Or I'd be, like, SO RICH.

I loved the part were Bones complains (to himself) that if he's not careful he's going to end up talking to himself. Also when he yelled at the shuttle to turn its lights off so he could sleep.^^

The whole camp scene (both beginning and ending) is what make the fifth movie 'probably' my favorite of the ST movies.  (I can't quite decide between them all--they're all so awesome!!)

It just shows the bondage between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy stronger than it was in the tv series and the other movies.  In the film, not only do we find that Spock has a long lost half-brother, but at the end Kirk finally declares Spock as his brother and the three of them will always be a family never to part even through death.  They are the Three Musketeers of the 24th century!

Gah, but I'm sure every Trekkie feels as I do-- We wish we were at the trio's side all the time from beginning to end.  Every Three Musketeers need a D'Artagnan.  Right?  Male or female- no matter.  That's where we all step in through our minds.  That's what every Trekkie is.  The D'Artagnan to the three of them.

I can always picture myself standing with McCoy at the base of the mountain watching Kirk ascend and fall off the mountain and Spock saving him, and me probably trying my hardest not to curse at my senior officers for nearly giving me a heart attack.  Then the campfire scene, how I'd enjoy it-- The conversations, McCoy's insults being taken as compliments to Spock, and the sing-a-long.  Ho, boy, I love thinking of my singing dying out like a music box with Kirk and McCoy when Spock just can't figure out the meaning behind the lyrics.  "So much for that fun activity" I'd probably murmur.  LOL  Ah, what fun the mind does to us.

Imagine that: Sean Connery and Max von Sydow were considered for the role of Sybok.

On count f the fact that this film wasn't the best Star Trek made, which it did have a huge mass of flaws, but it had so much potential.

Hey, I actually quite liked The Final Frontier. It's goofy and cartoony, but it brings a unique, yet guilty charm to it.

Anyway, upon seeing the picture, I read Dr Mccoy's quote in Dr Mccoy's voice. You obviously done something right there!

This is perfection. Just... perfection. Always. YOU MANAGED TO CONVEY ALL OF BONES' SNARK IN ONE PICTURE. HOW?

Thank you!
*le gasp* I have his bio too! Do you mean, "From Sawdust to Stardust", by Rioux? Cause there's another one, that I haven't got yet, which is by Kristine M. Smith. But MAN! I've been deeply in love with this guy for over a decade! (It must have been weird for my family, little 9-year-old me asking to watch all the McCoy episodes of Star Trek, over and over. Whatever.) The more I learn about DeForest, the more I love him. I only wish I could have met him (and his lovely wife)!

I KNOW RIGHT?! And yeah I want the other one too it's a harvest of memories or something along that line, it creeps my mom out since he's 75 years older than me, and I think he was a sex god right into the movies... haha!

HapticMimesis In reply to missmccoy [2011-09-03 14:29:10 +0000 UTC]

I just bought a Harvest of Memories and read it through in a day. It was very sad. It deals mostly with the latter quarter of his life, and Kris takes us all the way through his death with (sometimes) terrible honesty. I would warn everyone who wanted to read it, that it was a book written by a woman who had been caregiver to the dying, and that it would read that way. I cried, I mourned him all over again. Rioux's Biography is still my favorite, because you get a fuller picture of DeForest - but there are some really nice, personal memories that I'm glad Kris shared. I'm so glad that she was there for DeForest and his wife, now more than ever, knowing what he went through his last months on earth. Oh god, I wished he'd stayed longer!

Me neither, but if I don't force myself to branch out, I tend to go into obsessive-hermit-artist-mode! lol!

Yeah, poor baby bamboo. But it is kind of nice to draw again.

It might go on... I just want to be a well-rounded artist, too, and I have a tendency to fixate on one single fandom or subject for just, wayyy too long. XP
I agree. McCoy is just so lovely. I never tire of him; no matter how well I know his lines, I always find something new in his face, or body language that makes his performance new again.

Oh, I know how that goes. *looks at dA username* But your art is wonderful and the characters look so beautiful when you do them.
Oh, Bones has that wonderful effect. His face is complex with his age lines but every expression is different.
